Hi guys,I've just bought a CKD E46 318 (November 2003) with 57k on the clock. When I tried the spare keys - the engine sometimes refuses to crank. So I would need to close the doors, lock, unlock, crank and then it starts. After that its OK but when I try it again after a few hours, the same problem persists. This only happens with the spare keys and baby keys given. Can anyone help me here? Also, the company which i brought it from recommends that I service it at Automobile Motor Garage (AMG) at section 13. PJ. Is it any good?Appreciate your help.

which sparekey r u refering, the 2nd one with the diamond remote controller attach (exactly the same with your primary key), or the one without the controller just the key only, or the plastic key (the smallest among all)

Hi Mouse,

Its both the keys i.e. the second primary key and the baby key.

Is this a programming problem?

i am not sure bro, i think u better bring back to the dealer who sold u the car to solve the problem

Thanks Mouse,
I called the dealer dude and he told me to take it to AMG (where the last servicce was done) and see what the problem is.

Sigh.....potong stim laa....just when I was enjoying the ride.....

take it easy bro. all this minor set back will come to pass. the next thing you know, you will start enjoying your ride again.

moriz, your spare keys need to be programmed again.. it's a small problem only, your obc need to recognize the keys.
also the primary spare key (or spare primary) need to be charged also. you use it for long drive and the car batt will charge it automatically.

guru, how long would it normally take ya to charge?

You might want to first charge your keys. All you have to do is just use it. try not to use the remote to open/close the door. Use the keyhole to open/close instead. Make sure you get both your diamond shape keys charged and after that you might want to program it. To program it please refer to this link http://www.udmowners.com/v2/viewtopic.php?t=520

Btw don't know about AMG but I am very satisfy with my mechanic near Subang airport. I let him handle all of my cars e39, e46, e36, e30. So far everything has been smooth sailing.

tamade7 san,

I read your post in udm forum... Does your method apply for E90 too?
