Hey guys,Just wondering if anyone here knows how to make the headlight washer work?I turn on my lights, get someone to spray the windscreen washer and by right, isnt the headlight washer supposed to pop out and spray my headlights as well?I was under the assumption that all cars equipped with Xenon lamps are supposed to be equipped with this washer mechanism right? So am i just not doing it right?Hehe.. No particular reason.. Just wanted to see it in action.. :)Thanks a bunch for the responses in advance..Best Regards,Kenny

If it works like that I would have thought there is a ghost somewhere. :p

What you did can be used to test the auto wiper but you must activate the function first by pressing the button at the end of the stalk on the right side with the label "A". Ok this is not your question. Sorry.

To activate the headlight washer, turn on the head light, and pull the right hand stalk towards you like you would to wash your front windscreen. This will activate also the headlight washer. But it is activated only I think the 1st and 3rd or 4th time you wash the front windscreen (I mean if you try to wash the front windscreen continuously).

Stranger: Thats the thing. I did just that but it didnt pop out.

I did it multiple times until my windscreen washer fluid ran out and i had to top it up.

Could it be that the locally assembled 525i from AB doesnt come equipped with this?

Thanks and best rgrds,
Kenny

Oops. I misunderstood your post.

I believe then you do not have the headlight washer. But that's strange. Normally xenon light comes with it because in certain countries that's a must by law. May be not in Malaysia?

Do you have the auto levelling for the headlight then? This is also a must for certain countries.

I do have the auto headlight leveller..

All xenon's come with an auto headlight levelling system henceforth the absence of the levelling knob found in non xenon bmw's..

BUT... how do i determine if i have this headlight washer? I tried to pry open the cover/mechanism on the bumper with my nails to no avail.

Anyone with a 525i care to try and see if they have it?

Hehe.

Thanks

It's really obvious if you have a headlight washer or not- there should be a little "cutout" in the shape of the washer below the headlight(s), where it pops out from. If you don't have that cut-out, you don't have headlight washers.

It's only the law in countries where there's winter, and where they spread salt/grit on the roads when it ices over, cos that stuff gets on your headlights and really diffuses the white xenon lights (more so than normal hologens).

If you do have it, it is automatic when you pull your wiper lever towards you, ie. wash mode.

Err... For E60, you will have the cut out even if you don't have the headlight washer. It's just empty inside.

Yup. All E60's have the cutout regardless of whether or not they have the washer..

BUT...

I just found out that i probably dont have it.

My friends CBU E60 which he bought from Naza, when you lift the top of the cutout, it springs out pretty easily revealing the washer mechanism.

Mine is sealed shut.

What i want to know is that whether or not this is the case with all CKD E60 525i's in Malaysia? Or whether or not its just my luck...

haha...

Thanks
