i recently got this problem starting my car..especially when im in low fuel level(but the warning indicator is not out yet)..n when i get to start it n i press on the accelarator it will go on very low rpm n eventually stopped. so i have to press harder on the accelarator to keep the rpm high..is it got to do with the oil tank or the injector.. or maybe due to some faulty settings..n ya.. the sound of the exhaust doesnt sound smooth when the problem occurred..can anyone help me with this..can give me some solutions to deal with it..thx

cost u around RM 30-50 to clean the ICV, but if u know the mechanic very well, he might not charge u at all. the cleaning only takes about 5-10 minute. very easy job

Icv

Bro,

I also face a same difficulty last month, send my car to workshop and service the ICV (thanks god) the problem solved. Like what bro Mouse said if you know the mech. no cost for you.

Hope you problem solve soon man.:smokin:

went to my workshop today..
they say my e46 2.0 6cyl japan spec no icv.
is it true??
he say my car is like that because of the cam shaft censor..

is the mech correct or trying to slaughter me..
thx for helping guys..
thx..

if i am not mistaken, cam shaft sensor wont cause this problem, any 6 potter forumer can confirm if there is no ICV in 6 pot E46?

went back yesterday...
the cam shaft censor got no problem n the problem is still there..
so he change back the old one for me.
so the mech say that if it is not the cam shaft censor then it must be the input censor(the one beside the exhaust censor..).
he let me try n i don have to pay anything..
if the problem is cured then only pay him...
so far been testing for the whole day no prob..
so try one more day to see the result..
i'll share with u guys once i have it..
i've tried asking another workshop n they say theres no icv also..
so i think its true..
if im wrong then please tell me..
thx bro mouse..
really appreciate it.

no prob, your mechanic not bad can let u try parts, the cam shaft sensor also he replace back your original since its not faulty, very seldom mechanic is willing to do that :top:

Good news you got the problem solved.

Faulty camshaft sensor doesn't usually kill idle, it makes the engine lose power instead. I think the "input sensor" he changed is probably the crank angle sensor (bmw call it the crankshaft pulse generator) which DOES kill idle, especially when engine warm.

Btw... it is better not to run your fuel tank right to the bottom because it encourages the little debris at the bottom to get sucked into your fuel lines and clog the filter/injectors.

:)
