Hi brothers of the E39 community,This weekend I have just sealed a deal for a very good condition '97 528i. I am quite please with the car. It rides and behaves well enough for it's age and I can't be any happier with it.The guy did take a lot of care for the ride and could see he had a soft spot for his car. Anyways, I have just started reading this E39 section and there quite an active group here from KL and JB + Singapore? I guess. So hi to all of you. I hope to meet up with all of you some of these days.I have on my mind to upgrade the wheels on this car. Currently it's running on 16" OEM wheels. I am interested to source for a set of 17" M-sport/M-tech/M-5 (18") wheels. Can you point me to who might be of help in this area? There's many q&a's in mind mind, but I'll just leave it to this for the intro. cheers!

Welcome & congrat bro,

Which model is yr car? CKD or CBU? If CBU, UK or Japs spec? How much u bought it?:listen:

responses......

Wow, guys! Thanks for the warm welcoming regards. I can see that this group is quite an active on. Those responses are encouraging.

Somebody asked bout my ride:

1997 528i. CBU.
Std 16" wheels, No Multifunction steering ( strange but true) steptronic 5 speed Auto, Montrealblue ? ( a bit odd color), business rds, power seats, electric adj steering column, mobile phone ready, grey leather interior. The car is surprisingly clean and quiet for it's age. no squeaks or rattles over bumps. tight . engine is smooth and good condition. it was well taken care off.

only problems are need to do a facelift on the her and get some parts of the panels repaineted for the scrathes and stuff u get in KL traffic.

that's bout it for now. Thanks for the hints and encourgement. i appreciate it lots.

regards

E39 528i

bro,wc9922, welcome to the club. Good feedback frm 'sifu' here like Jerman and the rest. U will find it useful. Ya la, i also want to know how much the price of car u get. U did not let us know yet.

Why, i am asking is that a fren of mine also looking for 1 and found a E39 528 i cbu yr 1996. The problem is that originally it is a 520i model but the owner has changed the engine to 528i few yrs back. So, sifu's out there, the price should be based as 520 or 528??

appreciate any 2 cents worth of advice.....he..he....

rgds:rock:

Welcome wc9922 that's another e39 in da house.. do meet us at our next TT at Aman Suria this Friday@9.30pm onwards...

I paid 70k for this car where else you can get cheaper one's out there depending on the condition.

Hi all & wc9922,

I am also waiting for the collection of a yr 2000 528i. Paid deposit for it last week, now waiting for some paperwork to be finalised. Hopefully by this wed, i get to drive it. Been reading this forum for months before i finally decided to take the plunge to own a BMW. Been using Japs all this while.

I paid RM95k for it. Car clocked 126k km and looks to be in good condition. I welcome inputs from all e39 sifus out there. Frankly, i am excited but at the same time quite worried...but...as some people say...tak try tak tau. Cheers

Bro,

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. I've got myself a set of staggered M-tech Style 66 OEM wheels instead.

I got them for around RM2000 from the UK. 4 + 1 spare wheel. used of course for that price.

New is around RM 3000 each. But the waiting time from BMW Malaysia for special parts ordering is extremely long eventhough they have a Regional Parts Center in Tanjung Pelepas.

Off topic: Compared to Mercedes, ordering custom or special order BMW parts is a pain in the a$$ here in KL. I never had so much problem with mercedes parts. Once I ordered a set of merc alloy wheels, took just 4 days from Singapore Parts Center to KL stockist. BTW OEM sports wheels for mercedes are 1/2 the price of BMW's M's. Go figure.

wow it wld be nice if u cld post the pics of the staggered M-Tech style 66 OEM............thx in advance

BMW7833:Yes through e-bay cause the prices are the most competitive.

Bailey: Pics. They are the standard M-sport wheels man. Nothing Special. I didn't opt for the 18" M5 wheels as the ride would be harsh but the tyres are killer $$$$ here.
