General Question: In this days of age... Do you still give allowance to your spouse?

Yeah, indeed we are still sharing our miniscule salaries..its just that i advance all the utilities and households as my responsibilities. By this way, we know how much is saved and most importantly i can be sure i wont go broke every month despite maintaining our rides..I was once a poor guy, so i need to plan and she normally agrees with my suggestions in terms of upgrading etc...provided that we have the spare cash.....hehe,

Both me and wifey work. As most if not all the the husbands here, I provide for the household, except for her car loan and credit card bill. Yes I do give her an allowance (if you can call it so), which I bank in directly into her account (asked her to set up another account, different from the salary one btw). The trick is I don't let her hold the ATM card to this particular account........She can see, but can't touch.

When i was married, her earnings were 3 times i make in a year... we shared all our money together

When she stop and found a normal job, her earnings were 2/3 i make in a year...i bought her a car and paid for all her expenses

When she stop the normal job and did a half-day job, her earnings were 1/4 i make in a year...i bought her another car and paid all the expenses and allowances

When she totally stop work and became a housewife, her earnings were 0, i make in a year...she still has her car and i pay all the expenses, bills and a sizeable allowances...

i paid all household bills and expenses + all mortgages + car loan. She take care the meal (dinner). In rainny, she still got saving to keep us going. When i got spare money, will bank in to a joint saving account (wife+kid). Btw, her spending also on me (via supplementary credit card, except some spending she insist to use her own money.
