I read somewhere that we do not need to change our BMW gearbox oil. Some said changing it will cause problems while others say to change every 60k miles. Thinking of doing it tomorrow. Advice please.

I change every 50k kms regularly..so far,my gbox behaves very well.we cant check the oil level, so either u replace the oil or or top it up if there's any leak..

go ahead and change.i don.t believe in BMWs lifetime fluid statement crap.it's like doing a blood transfusion with new clean blood.but don't lah put in aids tainted blood pulak! ie. correct fluid for yr transmission

Id hate to admit this but my car has done 240k kms without a single gb oil change.

Really needs to do it though, been putting it off all these while.

Every 50-60k OR Yearly, whichever first should be fine.

Bro, do it, you will feel the lightness immediately

This gb oil change question is really a mystery , so I did my research when I was using e46 last time. The BMW lifetime means = 5 year as that's what Germany or us expect their car being lease before owner change new car or model . So it's best to service at every 60k for gearbox . But get the correct fluid for the gb

to change GB oil altogether, u need about 6 bottles of GB oil. A bottle costs around rm70

mine was big difference, the oil that came out was so dark, the gearbox was more responsive

Frankly after I changed, I did not feel any difference

usually on a 4 potter you won't be able feel any difference ...during the first few days ...but once the oil had run in ...you can feel the smoothness and the lightness of ya Gbox ...
