Gearbox lifespan

Anybody can advise the average lifespan of e39 gearbox before u need to overhaul it? Assuming decent maintenance eg gearbox oil change per schedule.Anybody has done the overhaul, how long does it takes n cost of repair?

it depends on how one use it..heavy foot means money for me. not just extra fuel you are burning but your wear & tear item such as your gbox

my e39 has 255000kms in it but gbox still smooth as previous owner never thrash the car. gbox has never been touched since brand new apart from oil change last month and that's the first

wow ... that's good milage u got there... me not so lucky... 120K+ kaput liao and had to change it... now touching 190K ... touch wood ... so far so good

All Previous Cars i own...even my Dad's Car last time...also Kena Rempit, but Gbox also still Smooth and i just do normal Oil Change when its time...the point here is that not just when you rempit your Gbox Kaput...there are many slow drivers out there also kena Gbox probs...many issues can be the cause..
