I received call from Auto Bavaria asking me to bring in my 9 mths old 328i for some control programming work...i need to send by this week...otherwise it will affect the warranty...anyone facing the same problem...and can anybody enlighten me on the possible reason behind the recall...

Bro you should ask AB in more detail what control programming work means?

What puzzled me is the fact that the car never give me problem so far except for the smelly aircon..

Recall is a preventive measure and does not necessary mean problem in the first. So it is advisable to send your car in to the service centre.

I was told of it much earlier - basically 5 hours of software updating.

No material impact post update except for the few observations i have (so far):-

a) when car is locked and keys are used to open the boot only, the passenger door will unlock [Previously dont recall this being the case previously]
b) when you toggle between eco-pro/comfort/sports mode etc, there's a big more time lag felt to kick in and certainly more time lag for the dashboard to flash the chosen mode
c) when you sit at the driver's, prior to ignition, you will see an illuminated 'BMW' font at dashboard control (ie between the rpm/speedometer) which dissappears after ignition

I have both a) and c) on my 320i. Never done any software updates since taking delivery in Feb.
For a) you can select to either for all doors to unlock, all doors remain locked, or only the drivers door to unlock, if i remember correctly. That was an option to prevent from you leaving the keyfob in the boot and closing it without any doors unlocked.

Tq for sharing bro - my 328 is a 7/12 model perhaps your ride has the newer software patch.
I guess you are right - the new patch is more 'safety' oriented in respect of the boot - although i dont like it hehe

cheerz
