"BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008 X5 SAVs VEHICLES WITH 6-CYLINDER ENGINES MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 1, 2007 THROUGH AUGUST 31, 2008. DUE TO A MANUFACTURING PROCESS FAULT, THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT PRODUCED TO SPECIFICATIONS. UNDER SPECIFIC VEHICLE OPERATING CONDITIONS, THE FUEL PUMP'S COMMUTATOR COULD EXPERIENCE AN INCREASE IN WEAR."I registered my grey imported X5 with Auto Bavaria Penang and a week later they called me up and ask me to bring my car over for FOC fuel pump replacement. Apparently they have fuel pump issue with the above mentioned manufactured date. Any one experience this before?

I thought BMW Malaysia will not service recond cars. How did you go about doing this ?

They do service recond cars. All u have to do is pay RM360 reg fee and they will register yr vehicle in their system. once registered u entitle to get full and complete technical checkup for free. they ping every electronic parts in yr car to see how the parts respond. they even verify yr mileage with deep scanning. I saw one japanese spec 7 series which the firmware been screwed by some workshop. they plug in the car to their system and let the german tech team remotely rectify the problem.

Hi storm7576, you mean I can bring the car that I want to buy and pay rm360 reg fee, they can help me to check for free? Have bad EXP when I check at outside workshop, they dint told me N53 is not suitable in Malaysia.

No Tecktt, you have to own the car first before u ask AB to check yr car. U required to fill up a form and submit copy of AP and ownership title

Not sure. Just bring yr car to AB and ask them. I dont think it will be a problem. If yr car is UK spec, it shouldnt be a problem to them. Even jap spec also not a problem except the firmware.
