Guys/girls,

Recently my F30 can't seem to detect my key fob (on the first attempt) to enable me to crank the engine up. I have to press the Start-Stop ignition button again to fire up the engine. Occasionally that also did not work and I have to place the key fob next to the steering column for a few seconds before pressing the Start-Stop ignition button again. Oh, btw...I always keep my key fob in my pants back pocket.

Could this be a symptom of a failing car battery, weak battery in the key fob, or some other sinister problem with the electronics? Anyone experience the same problems as well?

Pants back pocket? You sit on your FOB?

On a serious note, it should not be your car battery. If its your car battery, the starting of your car will be a problem. The minute you here a klick klick klick sound before the car starts, that's a sign that the car battery is going to die on you soon....real soon.

In my opinion, its the FOB battery is weak. Eliminate this by using your spare FOB which probably has a good amount of battery power left and try to start the car. If it works normally with the spare FOB, then get your battery replace for the initial FOB.

If with spare FOB still got problem, then it is more serious problem that needs attention with the the service guys!

Thanks YF. Yeah, it is always in the back pocket of my pants (hahaha). Not really sitting on it (I think my butt is adequately small) so its similar to those many guys that put their wallets in the back pocket as well.

I had issues with interference from My ionizer plugged into the 12v socket.... Unplug the ionizer it works .

Quite an easy process to change the battery in the key fob. Anybody want some assistance to do it please PM me or if you wish I can write it down in detail later in this thread.
