Hi all sifus here,My friend (1st owner) want to sell me a few months old E90 325i Msport mileage less than 6000km at RM200k and I also have another option ie. new F30 320i at RM238k.I know both cars has it's pros & cons and performance wise I think both car about the same (correct me if I'm wrong).E90 325i (cons) - 2nd hand, high bank interest, old gen, expensive roadtax, high FC, bad resell value in future / (pros) lower car price, full spec Msport, Idrive with navi, 18" RIM, in-line 6 NA engin means silk smooth.F30 320i (pros) - brand new car, low bank interest, latest 3er gen, lower roadtax, impressive FC / (cons) high car price, non-MSport, cacat Idrive no navi, 17" RIM, engin noise & tons of quality issue in F30 now.If u are in this situation, which car will u choose? Appreciate sifu here can share some opinion with me b4 I make this important decision. Thank you.

Two yrs frm now the 325 wil be worth abt 100k.

F30's N20B20 can be tuned up at minimal cost.

After a year in production, teething problems shld b under control.

Bro _M_, after 2yrs lost my hard earn money 100k, it's scary man........
but I still find in mudah.my 2009 3yrs old+ 325i asking price at 170-180k?

If you really want the inline 6 engine,by all means go for e90 325 Msport (final batch, fixed niggling issues)
I'd take the F30 though,or simply wait for the pre-reg/premium selection which u will save at least tens of thousands but yet u get to finance it like new car.
Forced induction is the way to go

Go with what your heart tells u anyway.

Its just a guestimate.. considering some 2008 E90s r now advertised at below 100k.

With more F30s flooding the market, annual depreciation of E90 wld be even more severe.

And also based on my fren's E60 525i M-Sport.. value is now half of what he paid for 2yrs ago.

Enjoy shopping!

I agree with namibub. Forced induction is the way to go. Overall, the F30 is just nicer to drive. Even in 320i guise I believe it feels as fast or even faster than E90 325i

JP, thank you for ur opinion

Both cars are hard to compare. The F30 has a newer chassis, newer engine with great power and potential, newer interior. The e90 will be an MSport with lovely handling and sweet i6 engine (modding it is next to nil and not worth it). I chose the e90 over the F30 for that. I prefer the sporty looks of the e90 to the stylish suave look of the F30.

Its all about what you want out of a car. So what do you want?

Go for the F30 320i.......the E90 325i is yesterday's car. A relic. Buy it if you are into Classic Cars.

.

my take is:

325i if:
Speed.325i is slightly faster than the 320i. around 0.5s. to some, this is a lot. to some, this is same.
5 years warranty and service (you should get around 4 years plus left?, because you mentioned that its quite new?)
handling. the F30 is a softie

320i if:
Comfort. 8 speed auto and soft suspension. its really creamy
economy. 325i is a guzzler
money. second hand value is better.

I think u should visit some dealers instead of limiting urself to just that unit of 325i from ur friend.. There are still some E90 325 around and u'll get it at new car interest rate... My friend picked up a full spec 320d with 5 years or 100k km bsri for around 200k as well... U'll be limited in terms of colour choice though if that is a concern to u..
