A recent article in Autocar UK about the F30 states that: "It will be joined by a trio of turbocharged 2.0-litre fours developing 180bhp (320i), 210bhp (325i) and 245bhp (328i). At the top of the line-up will be a turbo 3.0-litre six with 306bhp (335i)." See http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/258642/ August 10 Issue Of Autocar UK, which I picked up from MPH recently. 180hp for entry level 320i is a bit dissapointing when Golf GTI & Scirocco 2.0T has above 200hp. Or will we be getting a 184hp/270Nm 2.0T reported by Paul Tan for the F10. see http://paultan.org/2011/07/02/f10-bmw-5-series-gets-new-2-0l-turbocharged-inline-4/ It will be interesting to watch how BMW Msia market the new F30 2.0T when its launched in Msia in 1st half 2012.

More likely it will have the 2.0T 184hp engine slated for the X3. See

"The new entry level version of the X3, the xDrive20i, is powered by a 2.0-liter aluminum four cylinder gasoline engine featuring a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct fuel injection, Double Vanos variable camshaft control and Valvetronic variable valve control system. It delivers 184HP at 4,800 rpm and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque from just 1,250 rpm."

Honestly I do not much problem in the product segmentation. AS the article pointed out, there is also a 2 liter turbo engine producing 245hp. As we all know, BMW hp doesnt come cheap. That being said, there is always an option to do a remap on the base model engine, and since its turbocharged, the potential for higher hp should be plentiful.

On a separate note, the media will be shown the F30 officially in Munich on the 14th of October. :)

marking oct 14th on my calendar...
thanks for sharing anxious & Albundy!

Can the public view it at the BMW Welt after that date?

Well, whilst I know that there will probably be a 245hp version in the guise of a 328, it will also probably be priced closer to RM300k.

The more budget conscious amongst us will be more eager to getting something closer to RM200k.

Presently, we have the following interesting turbo charged cars:-

Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk6 2.0 TSI (DSG) RM209,888.00 - 220hp
Volkswagen Passat CC 2.0 TSI (A) RM239,888.00-197hp
Audi A41.8 TFSI Multitronic RM235,000.00-160hp
Mercedes-Benz C200 CGI BlueEfficiency Elegance 1.8T RM255,888.00-184hp

The BMW MSPORT 320d 184hp 380nm is selling for RM260k, so what is BMW Msia's pricing for the 320T going to be?

Anything less than RM250k would be great and certainly allow them to capture the market for the sports sedan segment.

The present 320i retails at b/w 241k and 253k(MSPORT).

One downside is that you'll be stuck on RON97.

First of all, I wouldnt compare a 3 series with the first two cars you listed as VW is not really competing in the same market as Audi, Mercedes and BMW.

As for the A4 and Mercedes, I believed both cars are still behind BMW in terms of hp (audi) and torque (mercedes) as the BMW is of a 2 liter block.

Coming to pricing, my guess is as good as anyone's guess but i think it should be in the region of 250k or so, and the 328 will probably be closer to 300k.

These cars should be able to use RON95.

I'd go for the F30 325d...

There will be no more inline six 2.5 liter diesel engine, it will be four cylinder.

BMW has more or less employed a 500cc per cylinder concept to streamline production costs.

So future inline 6 engines will all be 3 liter (the F10 523 is probably the last of any inline 6 engines with a capacity of 2.5 liter) and V8s will be above 4 liter and so on...
