I've been having this itch to change my e60. I have tested both F10 523 and 528. Both deliver creamy smooth driving experience. However I hate the fact that both no longer come with the space for a spare tire - which mean I need to live with the noisy and expensive RFT. My other option will be the E250 with the Brabus kit, which work out to similar price as the 528, similar power, and spare tire space. The Brabus kit really kick ass!For those folks upgraded from e60, have you had the similar concern?

The Brabus Kitted E class is not really my taste.
A friend's cousin is the sole distributor of BRABUS in Sg.
His E200 Brabus is no different from the E200 bar the signage, bodykit, interior etc etc.. Mechanically the same
1.8 with 5 speed Gear.
The F1 style brake lights and the diffuser makes the car look a bit akward.. IMHO

He himself is driving the F10 535I..

that should sums it up/

hi starwing
i was in the same position as u a few months back while deciding

i think the clincher for me was that the 528 is a 6 cylinder (for now la, until they revise it next/soon to a turbo 4pot).. the e250 cant match it in terms of smoothness and overall driving dynamics.. also i found the e250 to sound a bit rough in the cabin especially while accelerating hard

and imho the brabus kit looks a bit loud and crass *imho*

im not having issues with tyre noise, on 18inch mixed tyres

just a bit paranoid at times as this is my first rft-fitted car with no spare haha
but it's the future, shouldn't be too much of a problem i think.. unless u drive deep into some kampung somewhere often and for extended periods of time

my 2sen, hope it helps! good luck deciding ^^

Don't know abt Brabus across the water, the Brabus B25S here does come with an engine enhancement kit that boost the 7-gear E250 base to 240hp power, 350Nm torque - which is quite comparable to 528I. I tested it myself and the torque is indeed quite impressive. Though the engine smoothness still lacks the 528I.

I'm driving a 6 cylinders e60 now, I won't mind the 4-pot engine if it deliver the same experience, at the cheaper rate. I do concur the E250 is a lot noisier inside, and the drive is not as smooth. But on the other hand, it deliver the spare tire, which to me is more crucial as you'll never know when you need it.

It is not easy to decide especially between this 2 reputable car. At first I'm looking at MB but compare with technology and launches date, I opt for F10. especially its 8speed automatic

It's true, MB's spec loose flat out to F10.. Imagine 2500cc vs 1800cc supercharged, 8 speed vs 5 speed. With these 2 key components, F10 wins it all.

Though MB's branding and re-sell value are much better than Beemer.

Quite surprise .... of the resale value here in MY but how come beemers gain more popularity and more expensive especially F10 in Europe. Unless I do the wrong analysis. Need some comment ..

i think mainly because in Malaysia and Singapore, Merc Car is still the most popular luxury cars due to its longer history in these countries. (though BMW is fast catching up).

secondly, the maintenance and spare parts for Merc are cheaper than BMW.

nevertheless i believe soon BMW resale value will catch up in these countries. (already sign of improved value)

Resale value is usually tied to the perceived reliability of the car. With the tendency of a used Beemer entering workshop (compared to MB), I am not surprise of the resale value it fetches.

IMHO, much of the Beemer's recent popularity is derived from the launch of new model and the support from the more affordable younger buyers. Whether the new F10 will be able to buck the trend and fetch a higher resale value will have to depend on it's reliability compared to the MB. We shall get the answer over the next few years...

As a side note, I was told Beemer's parts are designed with a lifespan of 4-years - only long enough to cover the warranty. From my own experience, there is a certain level of validity in this argument...
