Just test drove the F10 523i today. Fabolous car. The exhaust note was really good. Great accelaration esp in Sports mode. My friend that drives a E60 525i fell in love with the car and can't wait to upgrade. He feels that the car is more responsive and drives better than his 2005 525i. What do you guys think.

Anxious,

F10 is a nice car but if he or she can afford to wait, get the Skd or Ckd specs....based on the e60 experience when it was first launched 7 years ago, the Ckd specs would likely be cheaper to allow for a rationale price gap with the 528, which is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter this year or in early 2011. btw, F10 523 costs approx RM200k in the middle east...:(

yeah...cant agree anymore, buy it when the locally assembled Msport version becomes available... and with some special % rate.. =)

Yup, agreed. Wait for SKD. But definitely the F10. Get the e60 only to substantially save cost, there is too wide a technological gap otherwise.

having test driven both, i dont agree bro...maybe the difference is that the 2005 525i does not have the magnesium engine of later models but i could be mistaken...

due to our petrol quality the F10 523i uses the same N52 engine as the E60 523i and 525i...the few features the F10 523i has over the E60 is 4 wheel steering, brake energy regeneration, and a couple of other inconsequential things...not really a wide technological gap bro, just a step up

yes. the specs of the current ones are...omg....even my frens honda city has paddle shift. the 523i doesn't. god....

My advice it.. Wait for the M-Sport package. There will be more options coming later on. I mean, come on this is just the car's first year. Look back in 2004, the E60 came in with so less options that feels like the car was so overly standard and boring.

You cannot compare F10 and the Civic though... The 523i is like a base line for the 5er laa... The Civic that has the paddle shift is the 2.0 version not the 1.8. If I'm not mistaken, the 530i has a paddle shift but obviously the 550i will have it.

535i does have a paddle shift. btw, even (the newly) launched Peugeot 308 comes with HUD...

haha actually it doesnt make a difference, hardly ever get to use it in KL. but i just hate the potential feeling of a honda city driver saying, "HEY MY CAR HAS PADDLE SHIFT, DOES UR 523I HAVE PADDLE SHIFT?" of course somehow my ego will be reinforced back when i smoke him off later.

Terus terang la. Why do we have to argue about paddle shift?? I don't care of these guys who says ''Why you buy a RM400k car with no paddle shift and bla bla bla...??'' then my answer will be ''They don't have the Sheer Driving Pleasure''. Enough said. In the end, the BMW will smoke them away...

Also I received an info saying that all M-Sport variant of the F10 5-Series might have the paddle shifter included. Traditional left-down and right-up.

Well the alcantara interior and the non-leather seat is standard but leather sport seat is optional if I'm not mistaken. The M-Sport is yet to be released in Malaysia and so as in Europe (should be in October) so we might have more rims options by next year (don't worry they should have some more good rims hopefully. Or go for BMW Performance although a bit expensive). The hexagon-cube inteior trim is standard except for the 550i.

frank the new launch model always come wit low specs ,specs would become more n more the price also going higher n higher. this is the way ab make money or else AB no excuse to increse the price. who the one always campare the bmw wit the honda civic in his live only derserve for civic only in fact he spoke this way because he jealous.

Do we hv any idea when the SKD 5 series will start delivery? Or are they in production already? Or are they still in the process of setting up their plant in Kulim? Anybody has any information?

sources say started, last time i went AB, they say CBU 523i already out of stock. btw i wish they will give us a skd 523i with specs like the current 535i. not really interested in a big engine, i rather have a bmw 5 series that is high specs (eg. comfort seats, sunroof, 4 zone air-conditioning etc etc). am willing to pay more for it. like my 523i 10 years ago which was brimmed with gadgets at that time, even now, the only thing i think the current f10 523i cbu has over my e39 is the i-drive.. a big engine simply doesn't make sense in a country like this.
