Today had my 2nd time my E90 experienced this. The car stall while slowing down approching the speed bump. Try restarting the car back then everything back to normal. Now when go back to normal driving, the car felt sluggish and heavy. Need advise from whoever had experience this before. Thanks.

If engine stall, something might have register in the OBC.. it 'll be easy if there's a fault code. Can be idling to slow.. AFM dirty?

Went for a diagnostic at my SC , but no fault code registered. OBC also display 'Check OK'. Idling a bit low... yup might check out the AFM. Thanks AB

My 320d did that a couple of months back but it haven;t done it again since the one and only incident

I had that problem on my E90 325i. Died a few time when slowing down for bumps and traffic lights. No fault code and idling quite low. I took a crc contact cleaner and began to open the air box until I managed to dislodge the AFM or MAF sensor. Gave it a good spray and allow it to dry. Do not touch the inner parts. Installed it back and car hadn't had that problem so far. The next time it happens, I know the culprit.

How do I know this? My scooby was giving this problem all the time..

Badrul,

Just ask my mechanic, they claimed that the AFM cannot be cleaned. Is it true?

Guys, I've similar experience here. My new 325I do not want to move whenever my car stop behind the hump. Most shopping center's parking entry when you need to get a ticket and there's a hump. I stop my car when reached at the hump then getting a parking ticket. After that when I step on it, my car just don't move. The I have to push to "N" then to "D" and it moved. Anyone having same problem as me? thanks for advice.

Something wrong there. 218HP car can surely get over humps. Get it checked out asap !!!!

Same here.. E90 320i N46B20, 48k km, 38 months old, on a wet evening after dinner 2 nites ago, car moved about 3 feet and I released pedal trying to maneuver car out of tight open air car park, engine just go *poof.. mati liao. Need to put on to "P" and press "Start" button again. It was the first incident, now so far so good. Keeping finger crossed and counting my lucky stars while I still can.

Is this an engine problem or could it be a transmission problem?

It's a choke on the engine.. many possibilities..

~ Clogged injector
~ Clogged air filter element
~ Dirty AFM
~ Dirty idling valve
~ Dirty crank case breather valve
~ Problematic post cat O2 sensor
~ Clogged fuel filter
~ Problematic fuel regulator
~ Faulty spark plugs
~ etc

Aren't all of these parts serviced during the BSRI or regular service periods?? Shouldn't happen.

I also noticed that when certain conditions happen simultaneosly, the engine surges forward (sudden high rpm) that is, when car is going uphill and needs to pick up speed, then when u press the pedal it suddenly goes BOOM!!! Very unsettling. I suppose its the characteristic of the engine programming. Seldoms happens but it happens.

U wish! :37:

BSRI only covers limited items and it's strictly based on OBC recommendation.

Most of the components above if fail within 1st 2 years or 60k km whichever comes first, then it's replaced under warranty, not BSRI.

Sounds like the working of rev-compensation logic.

But mine issue is engine not stall, it just don't want to move. My tyre stop exactly behind the hump. When I shift to "N" , the tyre moves back little bit. After that I shift to "D" then it can roller over.weird.. when I was in Spore shopping mall, i kelam kabut when ppls behing start to horn me. so pai seh..
