engine replacement for m43

i need sifu's suggestions and advice.my e46 318ci is running on m43. was thinking about doing an engine transplant to replace the m43. so i was wondering which engine is most suitable without changing any mountings. was considering m54b22 or m54b25. dont know whether will fit or not. hahaha. and also it is possible to change to smg gearbox. really need sifus opinion sbb m43 very underpower meh with only 8v.. haha

one option is to put in a custom turbokit...

If u were to convert engine, the final cost (plus hidden and misc cost) can sometimes end up more than the difference of you selling off the 318ci to get the 325ci... if conversion done well, A-ok... if not, it'll really be Banyak Masuk Workshop... Not trying to scare u off, just that the risk is there...

hahaha..true2..havent done the conversion yet. thats why i need sifus opinions..so instead of converting the engine, what can i do to the m43 to make it go faster.. haha.

like u said turbo kit, can the m43 handle the boost?? and also the cost and workshop that can do the kit.. im still in doubt sbb i went through the forums and not many ppl mod the m43.. haha

I've hear that the M43 isn't really suitable for turbo / super - charging. If you really want to keep your car 'til old. Keep it original.

For modifications, transplants, etc., I suggest using a 'donor' vehicle which is more common & interchangeability is better known amongst the community.

Sorry, my advice was to keep your existing car original. After all, it's a bit unusual & special (ie, E46 Ci with M43 engine? Not many around). It'd be a shame to modify it.

If your interested in modifying cars, get an entirely separate car which is close to what you have in mind. Then you'll have less hassle. :top:
