i am on semi-synth, magnatec 10w50. so far no need to top up, up to 7,000kms.

mkeong, how often and how much do u need to top up everytime?
After the oil reaches 2500kms i need to top up around 1 litre. But now change to a better quality oil 20w 50 will have to see if its ok. The oil level starts droping after 2000kms. I think its due to the quality of the engine oil.

Eng oil 10-40 or lower not evaporate faster, i think this is due to the engine oil is thiner it sip thru the valve more, than thicker engine oil 20-50, This eng oil dont do this so fast that is why it dont eveporate so fast.
Try chnage the rubber valve seal u will notice the diffrent. Engine oil dont evaporate so much .

It doesnt matter whether its synthetic or mineral, it all depends on the viscosity. That being said, an oil with a 0-40W viscosity will have a higher evaporation than say a normal rating of 15-40W or 20-50W.
