Engine belt woes

Hi all,Just wondering if you guys notice or track your spending on replacing engine belts (aircond/alternator/fan).I have all my engine parts, services and labor recorded on a spreadsheet and noticed the following:For the past 2 years and 6 months of use of my E36 325i, I have replaced these belts more than 5 times. Is this normal? Every time I found the belts cracking and needs replacement.BTW, the belts are all Conti-tech.Thanks.

Affan66 wait for the sifus to answer, for me I change my timing belt at 40k and other belts at 80k so far I don't see crecks, I use Conti too and demanded to get the lattest belt I meant baru sampai one.

Just like rezzy3181, I replace my timing belt set (belt, tensional bearing, cam shaft oil seal & crank shaft oil seal) at every 40k km, but for other belts, will only replace them if I find cracks on it (usually about 50k - 60k km).

28k kms change 5 times :blink: !! Could be due to worn cam-pulley (happen to me once) or wrong tension apply during installation, which causing the belts to worn sooner.

Also could be due to imitation belts!

the pulley, tensioner seems to go on the M50 n destroys the belts. M-speed has quoted about 6-700 to get them replaced.

Affan is it the air cond belt or the water pump?

all the belts.
And I have replaced all the bearings and tensioners early on.
Anybody else have similar problems?

Bang pakai belt jepun lah, MITSUBOSHI etc.......
Conti- tech are always prone to cracks. You can check the size of the original belts against the jap's belt see if they are available, i think they should have it. My E30 dunno where my mechanic got Mitsuboshi belts, all my belts he uses japs belt except for timing belt ehheheh

I replaced all the belting like you said and it last me more then a year already. 5 Sets for 2years?... That is seriously big problem..
