Guys, Just wondering, does the fasten safety belt indicator supposed to [blink/permanently switched on] [with or w/o acoustic warning] if the driver doesn't fasten the safety belt? What i noticed from my display is this:Once i switched on the car, all my indicator/warnings one by one turns off. Even the safety belt warning, though i haven't fasten it. It still doesn't light up even after driving without fastening for some distance. The only time the light comes on and goes off is just before and after starting.Doesn't it blink or give any acoustic warning if it isn't fasten. Is this common? It's a '97 Europe CBU.

On my car, the light just remain on steady w/o aural warning....'01 CBU europe

Yes, same as mine CKD, Year 2002. I was told that if you want the light to stay on as a reminder until you insert the seat belt buckle in, then you need to "enable" the function!

huh...fasten seat belt indicator.....?where is this?the only light i see that is part of the SRS(safety restraint sys) is the airbag light which comes on and goes off after a selftest.......or my light koyak oledi.....?:106:

If you guys are worry this might be a problem, I suggest you go to a workshop and have a full diagnose done with a GT1 laptop. It will determine what is the cause and solution for the problem if any. The best is search for GT1 (DIS version 55), cause it is the stable. DIS version 56 is also recommended.

Me too, me too!! e39 CKD.

Whoa.... i thought i was the only one experiencing this....haha...what'd you know.....

It's unlike my Volvo which blinks the indicator together with a warning sound if it isn't buckled. That's why i was surprised the bimmer has the indicator but doesn't do its job of indicating you to buckle up...haha

And....how do we go about enabling this function? Would one need to use the Modic to enable the function or is there a much faster and easier way?

Thanks.

Did you enable yours already?

I did a full diagnosis test on a GT1 before purchasing my car. All controls were OK. No fault detected. The indicator just never indicates to buckle up even at that time.

BTW, the GT1 that was used to diagnosed was able to erase fault as well....i'm guessing it has to be a DIS 55/56 for that matter.

If you enable this function, the warning buzzer will also be activated together with the lighted icon in the display. Can you tahan the warning chime?

Haha....i've to say i'm already seasoned hearing the alarm and blinking icon in the Volvo...

It's when i drive the 39, it feels as if something is missing, soon after starting the engine....

If you can share with us on how to enable this function

U can do it at any of BMW specialist workshops in KL/PJ/Sunway who have access to GT/DIS/Progman. I think less than RM100. Sometimes free if you did it with your service. Just search the forum for BMW workshops and the list comes out and see the feedback from the others. Depends on your location. There's many.

Hope you have started reading through the old post and the answers mostly are there as they have been asked before.

Search function kan ada .....

Haha...Yes indeed, i've started reading the e39 post starting from the very 1st post. Just that i've yet to come across a thread on safety belt indicator.
