E90 Top Overhaul

Hi Guys,I'm currently driving an E90 318i (2006) model. Just came back from Auto Bavaria. Sent my car in to check on white smoke expelled from car exhaust. Prior to that, there's a minor leak at from the gasket. According to the technician, they need to do a top overhaul to fix my car and they quoted me RM15k to fix it. How much does it cost to do a top overhaul from a regular workshop? Can anyone recommend me a workshop located in KL/Selangor?

Oh goshhhh. Not too worry. It's quite common. This AB is really suck u kau kau. Mine done by them under warranty. Pretty much change gasket job. Outside do about 2-4k, depend wht else need to change. Gasket very cheap. Its the labour tht kills.

Wait other chip in their comment. Im sure some done it b4. Your bim is 318i or 320i? I only know e46 got 318i, e90 got tht series meh?

Yeah 2k to 4k sounds about right on the cost. On what workshop, basically all COMPETENT bimmer workshops should be able to do the job.
Thus maybe you can share your preferred location for the workshop and we can help to pinpoint best place to get it done.

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. Azmany72, do you know any workshop that I can go to that's in or close to kl city centre? Mefor22, my bim is 318i and they do have such series for e90.

Kl city centre not too familiar as I m a pj boy. But I know there s a good place in pandan though I haven't been there myself. It's a reliable place with lots of members and my freinds going there. Used to be called Bm world but changed name as confused/conflicted with another in desa tun razak. It's now auto deutsch.

Whatever it is get a quote first and take it from there.

15k is ridiculously high, did AB give you an official quote?

i believe u had n46b18 engine rite?
i just done top overhaul for my e46 with n42 engine which is very similar with ur engine and it cost me rm2018. This also include replacing my crankshaft sensor.
Job done in a workshop in Penang. I believe the price in KL also should be around that.

whoaaa! RM15k? i reckon transplanting a 3ltr into the E90 would be far cheaper.

Authorised dealers in Msia can only sell cars and change parts. When it comes to real repair work, forget them. In KL you have a lot of choices. Less in pg, worse in smaller towns but what to do.

Thats why its getting more and more difficult to own second hand continental cars.

RM15k is just absurd! Pls look for an independent specilist w/shop outside.

I using BMW E60 and having a same problem last month, I was send to repair at BMW workshop at ampang area opposite Tesco Ampang. Cost RM1800. So far I feel very satisfied and the car problem resolved. Hope it will assist you.

go to Fastlane PJ taman Mayang...they did good job and much much cheaper...valve seal + oilsum = rm2k++ only
