Thanks guys.

I just check with Auto Bavaria. We can place the order for ~RM40 per piece.

Anyone got theirs changed? I tried doing DIY but realized that certain parts of the handle that attaches to the door card is actually melted to create a very strong seal. So basically you would need to destroy the melted part to detach the door handle. It's the same when you want to fit the new one in.

I am leaving this to a work shop to fit it.

Hi All,

I have seen several E90 where the door handle/pull from interior became melted and sticky when touched. Some even exposing the internal plastic housing.
I think this is due to the heat of the weather. Can this problem be fixed? Or we must have the whole door panel replaced? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I have a bit of stickiness on my front passenger door handle and radio on/off button. It is the weather I suppose. How to solve it ? I heard last time my friend's Volvo rear mirror melted under the hot sun at the open air parking lot.

ET,

Refer to my above post # 29. I had this problem with my e60. Excellent job done.

After 5 years and 95k km done under the hot Malaysian weather, my front passenger door clasp/handle have finally gave way (melted and started peeling).

Sourced for item 4 and 18 from BA for MYR180 in total (incl. of GST). Shall be looking for Roy of Preferred Wheels (a branch of Car Zone -

Will wrap the handles with 3M Ventureshield once done. Wanted the car to look as original as possible hence took up this option instead of getting Car Zone to rewrap it as theirs doesn't give the OEM look. Links to their FB page as below. Plenty of sample photos.

Nevertheless, they are reputable as they have plenty of experience in refurbishing interiors of continentals and exotics.

Roy did the interior refurbishment of my e60 and am very satisfied with the finishing.

Face the exact same problem on my stereo and door clasp.

Do not blame the weather. BMW knows well enough that our weather is hot and they decides to sell their cars here.

Should have choose a product/coating that works in our weather. We shouldnt take the blame off them just like that.

What i did was i took out the panel, washed it, then sprayed black plastidip 2 coats. Will supply picture when i'm back home. Easy peesy. In fact i still have half a can of it if anybody interested. 1 nasi lemak / teh tarik and its yours.

When i was doing it, my neighbour asked me what i was doing. When i told him, he was surprised i need to do this on a quarter million ringgit car.

The above problem i.e. front passenger door clasp/handle have finally gave way (melted and started peeling) isn't just confined to BMW....other European makes such as Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Porsche, Audi has similar issues.

I just take a plastic cake knife and slice/peel the soft/melted rubber coating and clean the remains with paint thinner.

Time spent around an hour. A bottle of thinner cost about RM1.50
