Ayyyy! Don't confuse Rachel. Nanti she ask where's the choke button, and you answer: "Look in your iDrive", mine non-iDrive."

Rachel, chokes disappeared from cars before you were born. That's when cars needed a 'warm up' after starting, before you release the choke and drive off. :)

Opps, we have just disclose our age range by knowing the choke button...:listen:

I guess the choke is not so much a button but a lever that you pull. Hmm good old analog days ....

faulty HPFP

during cold start its happen becoz the engine is cooled down n the fuel is not delivered to the engine injectors if its happen all the time the problem might be the high pressure pump , if there is no fault code on DME the problem might be normal .....

cheerz

U were right rastamarley bro

finally diagnosed the prob, its a faulty fuel pump. there is a loss of pressure after a while. so don't get a clean start until the pressure builds up again. getting a new one tomorrow.

so if u do hv long cranks and fluctuating rpm after an overnight there is something wrong !!! coz i never had it before. usually leave the car for a couple of days never start and never had such prob. always fires up instantly.

will know for sure once change tom!!! cheers

Good for you! :top: Whatever it is, plugs or fuel pump or whatever, it's fixable once identified.

Unfortunately it not just a faulty fuel pump fuse... but glad to hear it's fixed now.

What was the mileage of the car when the fuel pump issue 1st occurred?

mileage was 9k

well it might be ur fuel pump also if it is pressured low on the cold start and its gets normal back when the temperature is hot, i have faced this problem before and it solved after replacing the fuel pump , anyway best of luck on ur ride , cheerz!

Wow... 9000 km only, what is up with their fuel pump supplier (VDO?) quality control!!

The cold start problem in my E34 case was just worn fuse issue giving intermittent connection when cold. Smooth start for 2+ more years with a new fuse before the pump totally KO one day. The E34 fuel pump lasted ~220,000KM. That's reliability and quality which is no longer around even since the E46.

guess what..prob still there. back to the service center.:motz:

at least got a 320d as a courtesy car :top:

Trial and error troubleshooting. It seems to be a common fix for 'common problems' with our SCs unfortunately. :(

I think after the start button is pushed its best to let the onbaord computer set in and fnish all diagnostics and startups before pressing the buttion again for ignition. It allows the system to set all parameters for proper functions and performance. always good practice to turn off all electricals before you shut the system down for a more propoer startup the next time. after ignition although no warm up is required give your car about 10 seconds to run before shifitng into gear and driving off. This is just good foreplay before having fun with the car. Since all off us see our beemers as our play thing anyway.

might be normal on cold start car misfires abit bcoz of the fuel not reach to the engine yet and the engine oil is on the oil sump still , even my car have the same problem and they said its normal n they just update the latest software for me on this problem i faced on my e90 as well ,

E90 users, how do you know what version is your latest software? Can you check from iDrive?

Hi bro... i am also facing the same problem with my 325 recently, but worst is, the engine dies off completely when i slowed down the car. imagine this... i had a few times engine died off while slow cornering and suddenly steering and brakes does't work anymore. with cars trailing behind me its very scary!!!

this normally happens during cold start. after i restart the engine, its ok... do you have the same experience?

did they managed to fix your problem?
