i have always gone 'shopping' to pin point the cause of the problem before committing to any one person/workshop (eventhough I have a regular workshop I go to). For air con issues, I usually get a second opinion from Naidu (opposite EPF building in PJ). I just got back there today and he listened to my problem for 1 minute and pin pointed the compressor switch as the problem. His charges for me is less then RM850-900 to change the compressor, drier and top up of gas (all new not recon) Going to get it done next week...:)

Bro Desbimmer.. is that price for compressor on E39 or E60 ? TQ

Hi shiva. The price is for the change in compressor switch (I only realized I forgot the word 'switch' upon reading backwards) for the E60. Another mech was there and he asked Naidu why he bothered to change the switch only and not the whole compressor. I know that mech from Subang as well and he did not know I was the owner of the car..hehehe. That's why I trust Naidu cause he does not simply ketok everyone...:)

Ohhh ok . Infact i have the same problem . When i start the car after overnite or couple of days , the aircon will not be cold until few minutes , or at least i drive it for couple of minute . And then whole day after that it will cold . My theory is , the compressor clutch did not engage when the engine / car is at still position . My theory la. kkeke

Same thing for me. It was the switch Naidu told me when I described my symptoms without even looking under the hood :) he says he did so many bimmers already and it's always the switch...ekekeke

TQVM bro ....

Now ,. the situation is getting bad, the car air cond needs more time to get cool.. like 5 - 10mins.. Less cool air while idling and in addition , i can hear some krink krink sound from under the bonet ..not sure if its just belts or tensioner. ;(

Hi, can I have the contact number for Naidu. My problem might be the same as the rest of you. It takes a few minutes to get cool air and when the compressor kicks in the noise is rough for a couple of minutes and after that its fine. My main problem is whenever I cover a distance of 100K's at 180-210Km/hr, stop the car for 30minutes and after that its hard to get the aircond cooling. I have to speed up to high speed again to get it running again. I'll be sweating if experience in heavy traffic. Drive for about 20 minutes at high speed and overheat warning sign comes on, go down to 65Km/h then red sign comes on. Stop the engine for 5minutes and restart again and drive all the way for another 40minutes without the aircond with no warning sign. Managed to get it diagnosed and found out coolant water pump problem. Got it replace today together with a new radiator and air cond problem still there. Might have to try with a new air cond switch as recommended but are there any possibility of insufficient compressor oil or magnetic clutch causing the problem. Hope the sifu's here can shine a light on this for me.
