guys, just need to check if anyone had similar problem. during D mode, if you shift your gear stick to the left, it will go into S mode. however, mine will show M 1 instead of S, it will remain in M 1 even if you shift upward to M 2, M 3 or M 4, in conclusion, it will not shift and keep sticking to M 1 and your rpm will go all the way to redline until u kickback to D. gearbox no problem in D mode, gear changing smooth and everything like normal. any idea what is wrong?

get it checked at a reliable workshop. Could be a simple reset of the gearbox will do. Is the gearbox warning light on?

Your problem could be a worn out contact for the gear shift.

The gear shift in "manual" mode or sport mode is basically electronically detected just like your accelerator.

If the contact is worn out, dirty contact or misaligned contact, the signal is not detected by the g/box controller. Sometime a loose connector could be culprit as well.

To be on the safe side, do a diagnostic on the g/box for any alarm. It there is no alarm, then it is the contact position.

there is no gearbox warning light. any place to recommend. later like what jarance mention is just some loose wiring/contact but mechanic say gearbox rosak, hahahha

Get a second opinion from another workshop.

The E46 gearbox is a very sophisticated device. there are many sensors monitoring its performance and mechanism. if there is a problem, it will you. but unfortunately there is no sensor for poor contact.:listen:

out of topic, are there any thread discussing on "how to use S-mode efficiently and effectively?". Thanks in advance:)
