E46 Radio Problem

Dear All, Would appreciate it if someone can help me out with this problem. Here goes. My car radio comes with the GPS ( small screen ) monitor. The problem started a year ago when sometimes i won't be able to turn on the radio when i already start my engine. So to solve this problem, i just leave my radio on whenever i switch off the engine or turn it back on when the key is in ignition 2 before starting the engine. Lately it happens that even when the radio is on when the key is in ignition 2, when i start my engine, the radio will not turn on, or it will be on but no sound is coming from it and it is sort of like hang, as when you press any button, nothing happens. I will have to then, off the engine and restart the car before it works again. Really annoying and damaging to the engine. Appreciate anyone out there who can share experience or solve this problem. Thank you.....

Mine having the same problem also, have u fiind out the fault and fix the problem already? Having the same small monitor year 2000 E38.

I didn't find any solution, went to AB and changed the whole unit.

How much did u pay for the new unit ? They change the head unit or plus the amp in the boot.
