E46 Keys

Hi! About to get myself an E46 325...Dealer told me that he only have 2 keys? Saw from the owner manual that altogether I should be looking at 4 keys.. The other 2 witout a remote.Can anyone let me know is it 2 keys or 4 keys that I should be looking at..

When I bought my E90, I only got 2 key fobs and a plastic emergency key. I think 4 is OTT. Iirc, anything more than 2 is a dealership negotiated extra item (i.e. dealer pays for extra key). Besides the E46 key has the remote built in.

yes u r right, u should be having 4 keys, 2 with remote, 1 full plastic key (keep in wallet for emergency use) and 1 spare key (they call it parking/jockey key, where u can start car or open door manually but it cannot open your glove compartment, this key is mainly use for jockey parking when u have important things u keep inside your glove compartment and prevent the jockey from opening it)

You should ask the dealer about the other 2 keys. By the way, is it a 2nd hand car or recond that u were looking at. If 2nd hand, the previous owner might keep it.

I check with the dealer he told me he have 2 keys only and ask me to check the manual.. Show him the manual from AB said 4 keys altogether.. He said he will check with the previous owner..

If I cannot get the 2 other keys can I have the keys change at AB? Reason being security wise...Heard each keys cost like RM900++ Is that so?

If recond, normally it come with 4 keys but without the manual book

The only way is go to AB and generate a new key. You need to bring original pink slip coz AB won't accept photostat copy unless it is fax direct from the bank provided the hire purchase agreement. You can ignore this requirement if u know somebody very well in AB. It will cost you RM700.00 and 3 working weeks to complete.

Mine Japan recond also give me 1 key onli, but I keep on call them for 3 month, until they give up and surrender all the balance 3 key to me..

E46 keys

Hi fire,

Mine also Japan recond, I got 4 keys instead. My friend just recently bought UK recond last 2 weeks. The dealer just gave him 2 keys in the first place during handover the car. Luckily there is an E46 manual in his car compartment. When he open up the Manual book's bag, the other 2 keys was attached inside. You should have a set of keys as below.

dunno oso..the dealer claim tht he oso got tht the onli 1 master key from Japan and pass to me..I don't buy the story...so i keep calling them..end up I receive another 3 key..look new or unused to me..maybe out of goodwill they order it for me but don't care la..as long I got back all the key..

Your key like mine one or like Mouse ? Mouse's type of key can do magic By holding the button, your windows X4 can go up and down. This is AB secret and well known to bimmers with diamond type of keys.
