2 weeks ago, I experienced something similar i.e. wobbling/vibrate, noise from the rear when I tried to go above 60 km/hr. My immediate thoughts were...longshalf, torque converter, rear wheel bearings. Idling was also rough. My mechanic used his diagnostic tester and found cylinder no 5 was not working. Other cylinders were also not healthy. Replaaced 6 x ignition coils and spark plugs and engine runs superb again.

Mind sharing the damage? How much do the spark plugs cost? What spark plugs did u use? Bosch? Also, how did the mechanic check if other cyclinders were not healthy? My mechanic did not advise on others. is it possible to see how healthy each cylinder is? Where did u go get yours done mate?

Bestness Motorsport, Yong (012) 288-6480 at Ara Damansara has the diagnosis software that can see the firing condition of each individual cylinder. I decided to replaced all 6 ignition coils even though only coil no. 5 was bad.

6 x Bosch spark plug @ 23.00 = 138.00
6 x BMW original ignition coil @ 130.00 = 780.00
Labor & diagnosis charges 150.00

Normally I'm told when 1 coil is gone, the others are sure to follow closely so it is advisable to change all 6 in one go.

That's also my rational for replacing all 6 coils.

Bro, what do u plan to do the old one? Can give me one so i can diagnose myself next time.

Thanks! Might go there and let him diagnose the issue. On another note, could you guys pls advise.. do you guys do ATF flush/change? Was told it is not necessary, BMW claims never have to do it yada yada.. just wondering.. And if so, what is the right way to go about it? Read that must use the right oils, do the right things else can screw the entire gbox. :S

Hi everyone,

Been experiencing vibration and irregular RPM. Most noticeable when going uphill.

Rev will bounce (eg - 2 then 1.5, then back to 2) with a "woove" sound.

Not sure what to do. Yet to have it looked at by mechanic. But appreciate any feedback as to what this may be.

Thanks!

P.S I have changed the fuel pump.

ive experienced the exact same thing since last week and im really sure yours is the same... the culprit is the torque converter and an oil pump in the gearbox... damage cost 4k...
