Hi All,I am a a newbie to this club. Have owned a E39 2004 Double Vanos import recon Japan spec since 2008. My gear box has just went bust on me. Already due for it anyway. Now i am between getting a recon gear box and overhauling it. Have decided to overhaul it. Can someone recommend me a good and eliable place to take my car to get it done.Also can someone pls recommend me where to go to get my LED for my speedo meter.Thanks a lot people...Really appreciate it....

the previous owner of my car did an atf flush at 60k, my car is now 145km's and I want to do an ATF change. But I am not well versed in how I could check what gearbox model my car is using. I understand that we have to be particular in using the RIGHT atf oil. How can I check this out? I did try searching in realoem but I get 3 gearbox models listed there. So not sure how to check.

on your gearbox, there should be a plate mentioning what model it is.. and the amount of atf.
I'd say the right oil to use is the ori BMW oil. you can never go wrong with that.

For you info, pls pm this guy tiger1148. I went to his work shop last Sunday and i cloned a key for him as well. I believe normal work shop do not have BMW Diagnosis software as many as he has. You can let him scan your car as well. I saw his work shop rebuild alot of gearbox and he told me that he got rebuild BMW gearbox too.

So i taught him how to clone the key. Then he taught me how to remove the ELMos transponder and connect back to charge the battery. This is because the PCF transponder that i cloned crashed with the ELMos transponder then the remote circuit cannot put back to the key. So if you remove the ELMos transponder then your key cannot have recharge function then you have to do some tricks on it.
I just only met him on Saturday and Sunday, so i believe you guy know him more than me. He also told me that haywire is from Sungai Petani but working in KL ....hahahahahahahahhahaha
I am not recommend him because he ask me to do it, just is that the software that he has more than BM World work shop at Desa Tun Razak. I used to repair my car ad BM World. You guy can try to meet him and let your car check by his tools and his software. So only 2 days i learned some new things from him ................hehehehehehehhe

M scope batu Caves (never been there heard they are good) or Bestness motorsport (0122886480-Yong) in Ara Damansara. Yong is more detailed...uses BMW GROUP GMBH diagnostice software it like send car to BMW for service. Price very reasonable and he is an honest BMW mechanic. His backgrund he was the chief engineer of EKS motorsport ( AC schnitzer) many years back and he builds racing engine for Asia Eurocar Championship for EKS. he does the job him self.

I just had my e34 gbox rebuilt here. They did a pretty good job. They have all sorts of machines for testing the box and very clean workshop which I think is important.
They quoted 6K+ for my e39, was curious how much.
