e39 523i underpower?

what's the different in horsepower's between 523i & 525i....
how about 528i(waste money on roadtax)
how about the fuel consumption on this e39 model's...?

it is a subjective and personal question, entirely depends on your expectation. for me, a 2.5 liter E39 certainly lacks grunt.

tested one 1999 523i before...then 528i. fell on my knees on the 528i. did not try the 525i M54 though. Now a proud owner of a 2000 528i.
