Hi people. Before I start, I have been requested to introduce myself in the Newbies Section, otherwise it might appear that I am 'barging in uninvited'. Well, I am sorry to say that I can't find it, and so now I feel like I have been invited, but no one is there to open the door. If indeed there is a door. (I am probably being dim, but seriously, wouldn't it be a good idea to have a button to click on that says 'Newbies Section'?) Anyway, hello everyone. I joined a few months ago and have recently found myself in ownership of an extremely well kept E38 728i. Well, I have managed to carefully rid it of all traces of timber finish to the interior trim (timber in car interiors should have ceased, I rckon, when the last MkII Jaguar rolled off a production line somewhere, in the sixties) and replaced it with a high gloss black lacquer. What a great difference it makes. No more 'old man's car' comments. I was a bit nervous about high gloss, and was contemplating a matt silver, but the workshop advised me the lacquer which gives the high gloss is far more durable and scratch resistant I will attempt to post some pics after this. The work was done perfectly by Veng Cheong Auto Sdn Bhd in PJ. They took great care in removing all the pieces, preparing all their surfaces, etc., and the finished job looks factory original (if BMW ever DID a gloss black -I dunno). If you guys don't know this body workshop run by Mr Foong Ying Cheong, then you ought to. They replaced the window rubber around the front and rear windscreens for my E39 without any suggestion that the glass may break during the process, which is what I was hearing from several BMW workshops, and they did some touching up of various small scuffs around the car, all of which made my beloved E39 look at least 5 years younger! Judging by the Porsche 956 and Mercedes 190 (is it a 190? -saloon car circa 1965) they appear to be rebuilding, and the two Ferrari 430s that were receiving attention last time I was there, this guy knows his stuff; small touch-ups he could probably do with his eyes closed. But Hopefully not, lah! Anyway, a good man, Mr Foong (tel 7781 7476).See next post for pics....If I can figure out how. Again, a button which says 'Attach Something' would be more useful than 'Manage Attachments' and all that file extension bmp bop bif stuff. I just want to attach some images to this post....
