E36 3rd brake light and Check Control

Just realised my 3rd brake light wasn't working, and the condition didn't show up in the Check Control console... is this normal? I remembered the Check light and the Check Control console flashed a message when my left brake bulb decided to kick the bucket some months back. Anyway, bulb changed, I think it's the easiest bulb to change in the whole E36.

the 3rd brake light is not wired to the check control unfortunately...

Thanks... now I know too... sigh, just hafta monitor the 3rd brake light manually, just like other Japanese cars... any LED replacement E36 3rd brake light out there that is good, clear, bright, reliable and reasonably priced?
