Check control - On- E36 328

Hi Sifus,Need your expertise advice on my issues here: This happened when i start the car and i step the brake..the check control appeared.OBC shows: Brake light Circuit.I did send my ride to workshop and change the brake switch (Ori:RM118.00) and still the error message apeared. After further troubleshooting, The wireman said that there is no issue on the wiring.He suspect that brake control unit. He said that he needs 3 days to find which control unit faulty.really aah??I m sending my car for 2nd opinion. Having said all that, Any of you guys facing this issues??

try wriggling on ur brake light bulb first,if it works then the the metal plate on where the bulb is screw on is corroded,clean wit WD40,if it still doesnt work then u really have to get it check by someone who have repair this problem before.Hope it works,saves u some money...

Yup we did that earlier and on top of that is a brand new rear lights that I've changed last year.

hmmm.... went to Bavarian Auto and the brake light switch was quoted as
4 pin at RM82 and 2 pin at RM40
(unfortunately, i need to take the switch out to see if it is 2 pin / 4 pin ......)

my brake lights are all on now .... constantly all 3 lights are on as if the brakes are being applied ...... i suspect my brake light switch is stuck in the on position .... sigh

(just did a suspension overhaul on saturday and the problem appeared immediately after i got the car back .....)

now need to find some time to send the car in to get checked again ........ grrrrrrrr

Problem solved. it is the bloody bake switch. Eventhough it is new but faulty..change to another new brake switch..problem solved.

Wan, On & off I had this problem "Brake light circuit failure" b4. Changed d brake switch appx. 3 mths ago. Until now no more problem.

On another note, I'm having an issue with my brakelights as the OBC always indicates a problem with 1 brake light. Hope it is not related with the one you're facing, keep us posted on the developments

yeah mate..i guess i m the happiest guy today..but a little bit upset..brand new ori brake switch failed me at first.

The second workshop that I send..proved to me the brand new brake switch failed and change to some germany brake switch and settled...

I did went for the first workshop for refund..and managed to get refund. Must be today is my day i guess

As matter of fact, i did change my brake switch last 8 months ago..I do exprience within that duration the error message were appered on and off..maybe once a month. That time for not that bad.

but recently,everytime i step my brake that error message appeared.Pissed me off. Well..i guess it depends on the condition of the brake switch that caused this.

I can forsee that you have diffrence issues with mine..i guess. bcoz my OBC shows:"Check Brake light circuit "

Lesson learned: if i still get this error message again...I know the culprit..No other than the brake circuit .
Bottom line..if u still get the same error message please do not hesitate to change another one and another and another till the error message disappeared.

CHange my brake switch two days ago..4 kaki the workshop charge RM 130 plus workmanship..this happen after I send to change my car alarm system...so far OK

Hi Rubes,
That is the 1st level troubleshoot by changing the bulbs(FYI..I change all the rear bulbs) before we check/suspected the brake switch.

So fa so good..I m going Melaka this Saturday and i will keep u guys posted on my finding after the trip.
