Hello guys!Glad that i found this forum, i hope i will get some much appreciated help and advice here. Here is the case:My mom drives an e36 318i with an automatic gearbox.A couple months ago it developed a problem, whenever the auto gearbox is in 1st gear and accelerating within a certain range of rpm, it rattles! and from what i can tell, it's rattling more or less directly under the handbrake lever.lets say starting the car from a stand still, the rattling will start approximately 1sec after the start of acceleration and ends only after the auto gearbox shifts into the next gear. and when the rattling occurs, there's a lost of power compared to when there wasn't a rattling. the rattling does not occur in any other gears.i hope someone here is kind enough to share their knowledge about this problem, what is the cause, how to fix the problem, what parts needs to be replaced, and where should the car be sent to have the problem rectified.Ps: hoping to have the problem solved at the lowest cost possible. Thanks in advance, guys! :top:

Ths first suspect is your longshaft centre bearing. If you are from KL and need a good mechanic to have a look at this problem you can try Albert Fang WP Auto 012-2017792.

Hi, prancingHORSE,

Its a custom of this forum for new member to introduce themself in the "newbie" section before participating in any discussion or opening up new discussion.

Better get your kevlar jacket ready as many are loading their weapon now..

Good luck!

P/S: "Newbie" thread can be found at the "home page"..

Thanks for your input! :top:
I'm situated in pj but to take the car to KL is not a problem at all.
Where exactly is WP Auto?
ps: i would like to highlight again that the vibration/rattling only occurs in the 1st gear during acceleration, i was just wondering if it is the long driveshaft center bearing, wouldnt the vibration occur on other gears as well? :dontknow:

Hi! Albert is located in Pandan Indah. He takes care of all my beemers. Lately he rectified my longshaft vibration problem too. Good trouble shooter, honest and reasonable charges.

Another place is M power in PJ which is closer to you. You can call Nathan 0192131008. His place is in Tmn Mayang.
