318i, E46

My 318i rattling/vibrate when I put on the D or R gear. I will be fine if it's on Neutral. It will also rattle if I switch off the Aircon completely. What could be the problem? For your info, I have sent the car for service recently at AB and point out the problems to the mechanic. They had replaced Crankshaft Oil Seal, Oil Pan Gasket, Upper Timing Case Cover Gasket. I was OK when I took it back after service. After about 1 week it starts to rattle again, but it seems not as much as before. But, the thing is...... it still rattling . Can someone please advise?

Last week went to KL for a meeting and stop by at my regular workshop for service. The mechanic had checked and found out that the problem caused by a small leakage on the air control unit at the intake manifold. The car vibrate when gear engaged because imbalance of air flow inside the manifold due to the tiny seal leakage.

I think i too may have the same prob coz when diagonosed via PC, it indicates intake manifold fault

Does this prob from the intake manifold causes your engine to be slightly more noisy(not smooth, sound like diesel engine) n sound like there is a misfiring?
Did you replace the part or repaired it?
How much did it cost?

im facing same problem also.the mechanic said is the air intake leakage,he pour some water then let me listen,can hear the sound means leaking.but after change the thing..it happens again..unstable rpm.when traffic jam,need to out the gear to neutral,if in d mode,vibrate cos the rpm goes till 600rpm..then reverse even worst,vibrate crazy.dunno whats wrong.

go get your engine mounting changed....."then reverse even worst,vibrate crazy"...is poimost likely the mounting.
