Not sure what's that in the first place... but for temp fix, wrap it with electric insulator tape... Plastic tend to get brittle when heated over time... but if you still want to change it, it's just a trip to Bavarian Auto or Auto Bavaria....

Well she still looks good when clothed but inside she's a real rotten old hag! At least she runs well.

PROBLEM SOLVED! Replaced coil No.2 and my car is now purring purrfectly like a kitty after a good shag. Oh yeah!!

All my coils were Beru Coils and now I have one Bremi coil amongst the Berus. RM160 only. Checked the net and seems that all M50 use the same coils regardless of cubic capacity so no worries.

So the next time your ride loses a cylinder you know what to do lah. Remember Bimmerman and his burnt out coil. Remember, when you least expect it, it could happen to anyone anywhere anytime!

Drive safe! :D

bimmerman, your strut bar so new even the plastic bag still not yet removed... better remove it as it can get quite hot inside when the engine is running...

BTW, great picture.. what camera you are using... SLR ... wish my camera can do shut a close up shot.. (especially the spark plugs)

Good to hear that your problem is solved and it is in tip top condition.

Time to think about cleaning up the engine. Any sifu who can recommend on how to make it look nice with costing an arm and a leg... :p :p

bimmerman,

thanks for a very useful thread, especially your meticulously taken pictures... can tell you're a real shutter bug.

Your thread will serve as a useful reference for anyone else who's got a similar problem. Maybe this thread should be permanently posted as a reference. Similar threads should be also grouped together this way for easy reference... webmaster?

by the way, bimmerman, have you got a good digital picture of your car? let me take a crack at some photo editor mod!

Thanks for the kind words bro. Yes i'm a bit of a shutterbug and I have to divide my budget between buying more lenses and my car. So far my low income has not allowed me to do much with the car so I have not taken many pictures of my car yet.

She's not very pretty at the moment, just stock standard E34 with ugly 16 inch rims. I'll post some pix once I've taken some proper shots of her but this forum does have an 80K file size limitation which prohibits better image quality. :D

Another shutterbug kaki. As for me, I am still with the "old world" of photography... still using negatives and slides. Have not really seriously got into the digital domain yet. But perhaps in the future.
flasie, where have you been. Still in the ice age... Time to bring yourself into the modern age.. Start with something simple and end up like bimmerman if the budget permits. :aggressive:
