The aircon on my E34 occasionally gives this symtom, the blower is on high (speed 3 or 4) but air coming out from the air vents is very small. You can hear the blower running and blowing hard but hardly any air comes out the vents. The small amount of air coming out is still cold so the aircon is still working. Was told this is due to the resistor pack needing replacement. Apparently there are two major types of resistor packs, my E34 is an 89/90 so it uses the older fork type resistor. Anyone can confirm this?. Also heard that this part is not orderable, you have to go look for it at the chop shops. True? If not true, anyone know the part no for this resistor pack?Apparently this is a common problem, anyone face this before. How much work is involved in replacing a resistor pack?. Hope you don't need to remove the entire dashboard???. Thanks.

hmm....very similiar to what i'd had experienced.

ehoe, check the aircon microfilter underneath the meter cluster & steering area.

Yeah thats the first thing I checked but my car doesn't have a microfilter. Its a pre-year model before they starting fitting the microfilters. The aircon guy confirm this too. At thus far all the mechanic/aircon specialist tells me its the aircon resister that is causing this symtoms.

I'm sure someone would have had similar symtoms and fixed theirs rite?? Anyone??

I think the variable resistance speed control needs replacing. I had mine done for about RM160.
