E30 Project: Petrol to Diesel

Hi Guys,I have few to do list in my head.In this post, I am thinking of doing Petrol to Diesel conversion on E30.Reasons : 1. Fuel Consumption Economy 2. Improve performance 3. ....Engine Replacement Candidate :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_BMW_engines 1. BMW M47 2.0 Diesel . Not Sure if available in Malaysia . 2. ... 3. ..E30 Candidate: 1. Any 320 with 2.0 cc. Conversion Process:1. Propose to JPJ, Perform Conversion, Get JPJ approvalor2. Do the conversion 1st & Get the approval lateror3. Do the conversion & Use the same serial engine & pretend be innocent petrol (Kinda illegal .. tthehe) 4. Do JPJ know if I potted 3.0 cc and say it is 2.0 ? Oppss.. maybe not a good option..Budget : 1. Not Sure... should be less then 5kOther Part Need to Change together to match the engine conversion?The engine should be maintained at same cc of 2.0 to save of road tax (if I go legal )What do you guys think? Is it viable to do? Appreciate your help to fill up the blank here..

The M47 was introduced with the E46 generation of the 3-series.
The M47 was also fitted to the Land Rover Freelander (Td4) and the Rover/MG 75 (CDTi).
Finding one from the chop shops may prove difficult since these cars are not quite old enough to scrap just yet.
Not sure if the engine will fit into the bay of an E30 though, since it is two generations removed from that 3-series.
If it's diesel power you're looking for, why not just get a used Land Rover Freelander td4?
At just under 60k, I'd reckon it'll prove to be a cheaper way of getting your diesel kicks, minus the conversion headaches....

Fish! My neighbour has 2 e46 320d. I want to steal one of his engine and put my m43 into his. Reason - m42 project!
