I'm about to spray my e30 in either black or Matt black...preferably Matt ones...any comment or suggestion? Btw mine comes with mtech 1, side and rear. Front are hartge...I think...

Hi apiz, I just drop a post at newbie session. Thx for the remind. Back to my concern, so far I seen quite a number of Beemer with Matt black but mostly in newer model e.g E46 & above. Wonder will it nice on e30?

Wow thx for the photo.... It really helps.... Just that I worry the outcome are below my expectation from the car painter.

wonder any E30 owners here with matte black?? i have some doubt with this colour on my ride.... saw some thread and ppl comment "no go" with matte black on E30's

In my opinion e30 (and other cars with classic look for that matter) wont look good in matte finish, regardless of color. Yours would be a bit more unsuitable as you have an m20 body (mtech 1) with the chrome finish and all.

The e30 in matte black posted by Mr Apiz above is an m3; with plastic bumpers and sharp/pointy bodykits it looks a little less odd.

But that is just my point of view; my cup of tea might not be yours :)

there is one in matt black... very well done with alpina bodykit and stripes

i've seen one when i visited a workshop in ss19 subang jaya... coupe with mtech bodykit, not M3. with orange wheels, it look rather japanese. Classic cars look kinda wrong with matte black IMHO.

"you can choose any color you want as long as it is black" - Henry Ford.

Whatever shade of black is good for any car. It is the brand/paint quality that make the difference.

after some deep thoughts, i deceded to give it a try for matte black....lets see how it would turn out...

yeah.....keep us posted on the results!

frankly, an e30 is not a new car so any effort to try to modernise it would be a waste ( unless its safety related ).......so my advice would be to try enjoy the E30 as a car from that period in time.

yes, Matt finish was never from that era - if u ask me.

Just my 2 kupangs.

Yah... I have some doubt feeling too, but currently my ride are black...just want to try other colour than black... My choice of colour would be either black or white. As for white, my ride are not in pristine enough to be white...

Matt finishing difficult to maintain...prone to scratches and stains. Esp the ww2 atomic bombs from the sky, the burung gagak droppings!!!!! Try Gun Metal colour. Sort of dark grey metalic finish. Good luck. Mine is white, and can tell you, its horrible to keep it clean.

another thing about Matt paint car...Some school kids might take is as a " Blackboard"

You will be suprise that a kid use the chalk and write 4 x 4 =16 on your panels

I wanted to spray my car the same color.. 3 yrs ago.. but decided against it..
1) safety issue... no gloss, no reflections, scary on dark roads or when parked
2) Dirt is easily visible at all times..

Finally its out from the oven...and the result.... how would i describe? Its fine with me... i find that that its really easy to had scratch mark...even with finger nails...but its removeable...

End of the day, its your choice, and only for you to enjoy your ride, whichever the colour is.. : )
