Not sure if this has been covered before...Am looking at changing my E28 wheels to a bigger 15/16inch. Current stock is @ 14". Any suggestion if E34/E39 wheels can be used? If can, what modification needs to be done i.e. spacer etc... Can stock shocks/springs accommodate the above wheels upgrade?

If i'm not mistaken, you don't need hub centric cones for e38 wheels.. only wheels coming from e39, need hub centric cones, because the centre bore is bigger.

Thanks Iylia.

Good looking 15 or 16" wheels which will suit and compliment an e28, will be hard to come by. Here are some of the example which you may find in Mudah;

Unless you are very lucky to find a set of BasketWeave design wheels, which will come in both 15 and 16", then go for it. Other than that, don't buy something like the links I posted above, cause you'll regret after fitting it to your car. Yeah they are ugly.

But looking for wheels that are 17" and above that will suit your car, are plenty.

p/s: if a tire shop are offering you 16" e60 wheels (which they always do to clear stocks), don't take it. Cause IMHO, all 16" e60 wheels are tad ugly. Even for the e60 itself.

Bump, both are the best design to suit your e28

Iylia - thanks for the additional info and the links to the wheels.. any idea if springs need to be changed as well to accommodate the bigger wheels? of they will fit just nice?

You don't need to change the springs as long as the diameter of the tire is the same as the original.

Furthermore, if you want to go for the looks, then you need to change to sport springs, as this will give your car a fiercer stance as it sits low.. but if you want comfort, then stock spring will do.. but if you're going for low profile tires, then IMHO, lowering is a must, as the thin side wall of the tire will make an illusion that the gap between the fender and the wheel is as big as the english channel. And that will make your car look like a 4x4.

Thanks Iylia. For example, would 225/50/16 considered low profile? Am not going for fiercer stance... but just want the tires to fill the gap, so it doesn't look like a 4x4...

definitely not low profile tire... with these tires, you barely see that big gap.

cool. thanks bro.

are the lug nuts for E28 standard? or specific size?
