Hello everyone! Need to consult you gurus on some matter as i'm about to purchase an e46ci really soon. Regarding the downpayment, do you guys usually pay the balance of the downpayment upon signing of the agreement or after the delivery of the vehicle? I'm supposed to sign the agreement tomorrow and the dealer said that it's the normal procedure to pay up the balance after signing/before registration with jpj. Thanks! :)

And how long does it usually take for the registration of the vehicle with jpj? I'm doing an interchange/retaining plates as well.

All procedures should be approved and done before making the final payment. Registration with JPJ shouldn't take more than 1 working day.

In short, pay 'em the money and they hand you the keys.. that's that.

That means my car should be ready in a day's time after being sent to jpj by the dealer? The loan has already been approved but the new car will only be sent to jpj together with my old car because they need to have both cars there at the same time for the interchange of plates. The dealer told me that it might take 2-3 days for all the inspection and procedures to be done by the jpj officers though. :(

Oh and about the downpayment, let's say there's a balance of about RM30k+ to be paid to the dealer, i should only pay him once i get my car right? Thanks! :)

Dude.. PMed you..
Sleep well.. I know the anxiety.. :)

pay the balance whn you get the car...so tht you can first inpect the car to your liking before you part with the money..otherwise if you have some unsatifaction with the condition of the car, you know wht i mean:)

Hey guys! Just signed the agreement this afternoon and i paid 1/3 of the balance to the dealer and only paying the rest after delivery of the car. The car will be sent to puspakom for inspection on fri and subsequently for registration and interchange of plates next monday. :) Btw, the dealer said that the original IC must be presented to jpj during registration of the vehicle and i would have to either surrender the ic to them or be present at jpj during the day of registration. Is this the normal procedure for registration of a vehicle?

As far as I know.. yes.. but I suggest you be present rather than handing over something that important.
Anyhow, I'm glad it turned out well for you..

Cheers..

Thanks jason! :) I'll try to make time to be present at jpj on the day of registration. Just hope that they can settle all the procedures as soon as possible without any delays/etc and let the mods begin once i take delivery of the car! :)

never heard of needing ori NRIC for car registration. dont worry too much, as long as the ori car card have all your/car details right then u can pay them the balance la.. if its imported, then make sure u get all those custom K forms, BOL, exporter's receipt, old de-registration cert, puspakom cert, etc.

since the car is being financed, bank nowadays will check all procedures tightly coz its their monies going to the dealer too. if the car koyak case, u also MIA then more of their $$ are going up in smoke mah..
