Dear Fellow Bimmers,Do we need a center cone for installing 18' AC rims on e46 (2003 model)? The tyre shop that I went said no need. I just fitted the new rims on my e46, did the alignment and balancing. Now car vibrate at speed 60km/h-70km/h.It does not vibrate before using my old standard rims.

If the rims were made for E39 then a centre cone is needed. Otherwise it is not needed.
If the car is vibrating, check whether the rims are bent and also try re-balancing.

Thanks for the info maxxsp. The rims are made for e46 model. will do balancing and alignment this weekend.

i quite certain the AC rims on my e46 were made for e46 and they came with orange coloured hubcentric plastic rings which i later had replaced with hubcentric ac spacers. if you're running them without, doubt balancing and alignment will solve the vibration issue. i could be wrong.
