Bro, how did you get the oil temp meter to work? Any extra interface you need to add? Thanks.haywire said:For some the oil temp gauge does not work. And the RPM lights dont work too.

Sweet. Haven't come across anyone thats manage to get the warm up lights to work properly with the I6 .haywire said:Thread resurrection.
Been some time since I updated this thread. Some restoration and retrofitting projects in mind.
Just retrofitted an E39 M5 cluster 2 weeks ago..90% working. Need to add another external module for the RPM lights to work as intended. Oil temperature gauge addition was a really nice upgrade in my opinion. Pictures to follow.
ah , didn't read through that thread on bimmerforums. Definitely something i'd consider something down the roadhaywire said:Oil temp somehow just worked plug and play into my car. This the the early M5 black face cluster 1998-2000. The later ones with grey face I have tried previously in my car and it does not work.
For the RPM lights to work I am adding an external module for it to work..no other way for an I6 engine. For 540i you can just flash a 4.6is ECU for the lights to work, no need any extra module.
A guy in Germany is building my custom module as we speak.
