I was quite shock coz normally coz me around 1,200-1,600 max

when i asked, they said it is because of they are offering the standard package inclusive of:-

i) OBD whole system - mine is free
ii) Flush oil - Mine is E60, flush with liqui Molly = below 40
iii) new oil - Liqui Molly = 250++ full syntetic
iv) change air filter - My Air filter is 240 x 2
v) check brake - add brake fluids - what type of fluid ?
vi) checked coolant and add coolant - what type of coolant ?

so for all above, it cost me RM2,600

is it normal or rather expensive?

I overall services my E60 around 550 ++, i think if they use all those high end product also no need so expensive. But mine is E60 yr 2005 but let see others reply.

thats horrendously expensive...even if you factor in the fact that you went to a authorised SC, its still very expensive for what you got

lets look at your base materials costs

- new oil - RM300-500
- new air filter - Rm300
- top up fluids - Rm150

meaning the rest of your bill was basically labour and "expertise"

I believe that's absolutely to expensive. I service mine at an authorized service center too, at Quill Auto in PJ and on top of the things you mentioned, had all four wheels aligned and balanced too. Plus they gave me an E60 as a courtesy car. All in, $800.

thats soudns very reasonable..with car too..nice

To OP..i suggest u make a fuss..or take the case to consumer tribunal, if i had been presented with a bill like that, i would have refused to pay

I thot it too expensive too, coz normally it wud cost me around 1.2k..

Wow! 2k++ for only lubricants and oil change + air filter.

Normally that would cost around 1.2k to 1.5k depending on what need to change. But in your case, besides the air filter, the rest are all oils.

A bit on the pricey side lo.. unless they give u SUPERMAN labour service

iii) new oil --- ( how many litres and what is the brand and type )
iv) change air filter ( ayoo 2 minutes job only )
v) check brake - add brake fluids ( how many litres were added ? )
vi) checked coolant and add coolant ( wow got coolant reduce ka ?? how many litres )

so for all above, it cost me RM2,600

well depends on what they have told you IMHO ....

normal it is around 1,200 but this they said a standard service package.. oil, brake, coolant, obd, flush n car wash..

It will be good if you can provide price for each and every item as per your list below. Otherwise quite difficult to comment on a total price of RM 2,600.

It's a fact that authorised SC charges is a "tad" more comparing to unauthorised workshop due to the fact the they generally have higher overheads especially the 2 years warranty they provide for most parts replaced, they even wash and vacuum your car before delivery too. Which workshop outside does that?

But RM2.6k for those items are really mind boggling, best seek 2nd opinion at another authorised SC.

My personal observation:

1. What is "OBD whole system"? I assume this is to reset all the adaptive values and to identify if any error messages in the OBD. This should not cost more than RM100

2. Flush oil. Why need to use flush oil? What is the oil change interval u adhere to? Follow dash warning or every 10k km? If the latter, then I wouldn't suggest flushing. Or does your car has a sludge condition?

3. New oil, I heard they are charging more than RM75 for a liter of engine oil [or was it RM95?], so if 6.5L for a 6-cylinder car, oil alone will set you back about RM500, so it normally cost about RM700 for an oil change job in the authorised SC. About RM500 for a 4-cylinder car.

4. Air filter. I have no idea how long does our filter last or what's the cost. My 320i air filter has a sleeve. I wash the sleeve periodically [about every 20k km] and the filter is protected by the sleeve, I think I can use this filter forever.. http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/foru...ashing-of-E90-CKD-320i-Air-Filter-quot-Sleeve

5. Check brake.. Check for what? pad wear can be done visually while brake fluid is monitored by the OBD. You don't top up brake fluid unless there's a leak in the system. What is there to check? Or did you make a complaint?

6. Check coolant and add coolant. How difficult is that? The coolant cost less than RM60 for 1.5L if buy outside, ORIGINAL.

As I say, seek 2nd opinion, go to another authorised SC.

For a moment, they sounded like wanting to charge u to check your tyre condition, car lights whether working or not and petrol level..

Even if I were to put a cost to all these:

1. RM100
2. RM200 (I change oil every 10k km, engine clean2, nothing to flush, this is only recommended for those who follow the OBD oil change indicator which only triggered 20~25k km)
3. RM700 (assuming 6-cylinder, include oil, labor and reset)
4. RM200 (estimate to replace air filter, no idea what's the replacement interval)
5. RM280 (to replace brake fluid entirely, include RM45 for fluid, labor and reset, replacement interval is about 30k km, my E90 did twice, 1st was BSRI, 2nd I pay myself :()
6. RM100 (can buy 3L of original BMW coolant, I also never change this before, mine 56k km, 4 year old E90)

Total: RM1,580
