After more than 2 years of owning my 325 w comfort access, i accidently locked my key in the car. I put my wallet and key in the passenger seat and closed the door, I must have grazed the comfort access lock on the door handle and it locked on me. Lucklily that i was at my parents place which was not too far away but imagine if I was outstation then i would really have been screwed. I'm surprised that this can actually happened so i'm going to place a call to my service advisor to check with him. What are your thoughts?

Have you tried to unlock the door(as we usually try to open the door when the FOB in our pocket).. I might be wrong but if it can be locked then it should be unlocked as well right..i thought its just work in certain range..it even lock by itself when im washing the car with the key in my pocket but never had problems to unlock it..

I have never experienced this before as well. Most of the time, I just put the key in the pocket and touch the door handle. I believe the device is smart enough to recognize the range. Got one time, my key is inside the car, I touch the door handle. It didn't close. I wonder why and then I remember the key is not in my pocket.

Luckily the range of the device is pretty sensitive. But then, if i locked myself out, there's still spare key cos I was washing my car outside my house then

never really experiment it yet..must do it once im home : )

i tried on a lexus system last week and it didnt lock the door but gave out a beeping signal indicating that your key is in the car. the ct200h.

It should not lock the car if the key is inside. I have experienced it before. Even if the key left in your car boot, it won't allow you to lock the boot.

oh no, can some thing be wrong coz it locked on me with the key inside.
shitz i'm gonna test it out over the next few days when i get the time, i jus changed the batt on my keys.
so lets c if it acts up again...

If battery changed, may be due to the car's proximity sensor faulty. It is unable to detect the key which is inside the car.

Anyone change your car key's battery before by yourself? Any instruction to do so...

MY 2nd comfort access key used by the missus running low on battery and I want to attempt self-DIY...:-D

Battery I know which type... but the method to open the casing.. i don't know :p

I got the same experience when I was traveling in Australia. My uncle E90 320i 2006. The key is inside the car we accidentally touch the door handle and the door is locked. Luckily my aunt carry the spare key with her all the time. At that time we are in albuny. If. Aunt did not caring the spare key dunno how are we going to open the door.

simple... to open, remove your emergency key from the remote. u will see a small gap ie opening, juz use a screw driver and pop it in to the opening.
the battery cover pops up and the battery is exposed, juz do it slowly so that you can see how to replace the battery properly but anyway its a no brainer coz u will figure it out once you see the design.
