get the one that u feel....'this is the one'...thats it bro :D
ok ok....i voted oredi....my vote should not cloud ur decision :D
Good luck bro :D

ok now that sounds like a more reasonable price esp. with all the goodies... mind you if i were you i really need to stress the point that you must get the dealer to give you a hard top all the other goodies you can buy yourself the hard top is a must!! if not you get lots of wind noise and whats that term.. "scuttle shake"? i think i am wrong here..... anybody knows what i am refering to?

Please check if the ac's original, xenon's and reverse a very nice extra.. foldable mirrors not expensive...

Don't forget to give me a ride in the 'vert
...

If this car is going to be a garage queen, then there is not urgent need for the expensive and heavy hardtop. But if you're going to use it as a daily driver, and especially in Malaysia, I agree a hardtop is a must. It does help reduce chassis flex, risks of vandalism/theft and leaks. But they are heavy and a little cumbersome to remove (2 people is suggested) and bulky to store (when not in use).

But having a hardtop highlights the reasoning for going with a sedan/coupe in the first place.

It's still your call, Mr. Omega.

So i hear you guys.
Excuse me for asking, but what is a hardtop? any information or pix or thread/site you guys can point me to

The hardtop seems to be the consideration vs my current ride now.

Thats way too much bro... when i was looking for my car late last year to early this year i was offered 2units 330ci cabriolets one was in M*NG H*NG for only 210k but with no hardtop 2nd hand yr 2002 mileage 30k+... the other one was an unreg 2001 240k+ but with hardtop both were uk specs...

I missed out on the 210k one by just a few days could have been driving one now but i guess it was fated, anyways i do have to agree with some members here why go for a vert when you can't really use it much? not in this weather anyway... and its quite a heavy car esp. with a hardtop and trust me you would need one and they cost a bomb 20k i believe... with that budget if you really want a bmw vert go for a z4 in my humble opinion....

...

Avoid M*NG H*ENG by all means.

thanks bro... your earlier advise really stuck to me.
e46 M3? too expansive for now...

btw guys, the prices are now 230k for the UK specs (asking 275k)
asking less than 220k for the japan spec... expensive?

Get the Japan spec la. It's cheaper, better spec and better condtion. What else bothering you?

I think the ACS Type V should be original, don't think the OEMs have them staggered f/r?

M*N* H*N*G called to confirm they agreed to my addtional requests made last week for the UK spec'd car;

1. six (6) months warranty
2. throw in the ACS type V wz PS 225/40/18(f), 255/35/18(r)
3. throw in the projector headlights

anyhow, a lot to do before confirmation on either of the cars;
1. Hardtop available?
2. GT1 readout confirmation
3. Visual inspection of undercarriage, gearbox, etc
4. Check condition of control arm and bushings
5. High speed run - if possbile
6. others?

Bro, both are priced the same currently.
What's really bothering me are these : ACS Type V, reverse sensors, auto wiper/rain sensor, review mirror dimmer, bmw radio ready for m'sian frequencies

Jap/UK specs

Just a word of caution...do a proper check on the imported vehicles. Japanese versions are known to have undergone a lot of rebuilding before being re-exported. Beware of some parallel importers of UDM from Japan. Imported cars must not be more than 5 years old (in Malaysia, this is based on year of registration). They buy 7 year old cars, rebuild them in Japan and somehow, they can produce a Japanese registration certificate to the Malaysian customs that the car is not more than 5 years old. (Now you can understand how some dealers can sell cheaper!)

You can email the JAPAN USED MOTOR VEHICLE EXPORTERS ASSOCIATION to assist you in checking the vehicle. If you have contact in BMW Malaysia, you could request them to verify the vehicle VIN (they can give you all the details you require from interior to exterior).

I have 2 units E46 323i - one being Jap specs and the other UK specs, both being same production year......difference? ..... UK much better.

^^wanted to post more but got lazy

but basically thats it... a hardtop is a removable roof for verts' its good to protect the fabric roof from the elements and vandals... and actually IMHO it looks quite good cause it makes the e46 vert' roof line look lower than the coupe which gives it a flatter looking coupe...

UK spec is my opinion!!

1)the japan specs should come with 225/45/17 (f) and 245/40/17 (r) - staggered rims. ensure correct rims and tires are given
2) the uk specs should have 8j*18 (f) and 8.5j*18 rims (r) - the rims should be staggered otherwise your handling will be out since having 255 tires at the rear.
3) Do a check on the mileage vs the condition - these cars can be clocked on all 3 checkpoints. Check the seats, steering wheel for wear and shinyness as this would indicate a higher mileage.
4) get the car jacked up and check the rear subframe for any tears....common on 99 to 01 models.....
5) i would also prefer the UK specs......think the 330 came standard with AC so there should be no issues with radiator and springs.....(cars without aircond have smaller radiators and different springs as the front weight is lighter without ac compressor and additional fans)

things are turning out in your favor..don't stop there, press them for more, ie engine oil change, new brake pads etc.

Hmmmm 15k seems a bit steep. I can get a new E46 hardtop for about $2,300 (about RM8,700). Factor in shipping, and I think you can still squeeze a couple of k's off that price, it's a buyer's market right? Findout about hardtop preparation for your car. Are all the necessary hardware there? Check with www.realoem.com for more details. Also check used hardtops...

if you want my advice, it's a waste of money. you might as well use the cash for others: new sets of tires, suspension, etc etc...

never thought of that...:), even with that, you'll probably end-up with some spare cash, which you can use to tint the ride.
