Central Locking - e46

Good afternoon Bros,Need some advise/opinion about this persisting central locking (CL) problem. 1. I can activate CL using the key (original BMW pakai battery macam 10 cents syilling) but some time cannot unlock if park under hot condition (not necessarily outdoors because happened also in underground car park) or lock/unlock kereta banyak kali.2. If open door manually (cucuk lubang + pusing kunci), only driver's side can open and CL not working (pintu lain cannot open) even when I press the CL button near the gear. Why the manual opening tak activate the CL? Anyway to go around this setting because susah kalau this thing happen ... kena climb in from the driver's side.3. After travelling for a distance while pressing the CL button near the gear, suddenly the CL activated (semua pintu boleh buka).The only solution now is to lock + leave the car overnight and the next morning the CL working macam biasa. But the problem will come again at unexpected times and create inconveniences.Any feedbacks will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Better check your ZKE module and also EWS at workshop that have GT1. I suspect your ZKE kaput already...

Hi Pijan71, just gonna throw some ideas about. I could be wrong, but these have been true with my cars in the past.

- Some E46 are actually configured to only unlock the driver's door with manual key unlock. Mine does this too and is normal.

- After manual unlock, try turning key to ignition-ON (but not start), leave for 10 seconds then switch off, maybe this will reset the CL and make the button work again instead of waiting while driving.

- Re. the rest of the locking problem, sometimes in exteme heat the switches and sensors in the door expand so maybe this causes electrical problems.

- CL button - maybe something has spilt onto the switch in the past?

- Sometimes the boot wire harness gets frayed/worn from opening/closing, so it can cause electrical confusion in the system (thinks the boot is open).

interesting if one goes up to Genting - the central remote key/lock wont work too - as have experienced several times before.

Thanx for the suggestion. Will try whether work or not? At the moment not sure when can feedback because the CL working as normal.

hmm ... hmm ... very tempting ... RM80 against FOC ... will seriously consider 'out-of-the-area' trip to USJ ... dah lama tak pergi that neighbourhood.

your central locking elecronic I/C inside the module box is kaput already (under the glove box) .Just changed mine two weeks ago. My central locking sometimes open easily and sometimes need to press a few more times before the door lock opens.
Now works perfectly.

Cost me RM1000 for a used unit. Maybe can get cheaper.

Sorry for the long silence ... the diagnostic came up with nothing ... the mech suspected some mechanical thingy ... nothing to do with any sensors or whatsoever.

Surprisingly since this post I did not have to open manually ... kena 'picit' a few times adalah ... furthermore I was busy rectifying other engine problems ... my ride dah tua ... selalu sakit ...

Nevertheless, will try out izuaff remedy ... nak juga solve this problem.
