Dear Sifus, need some feedback. My E39, which is running on stock spring and Bilstein black has this bouncing feeling at the front when I'm on NS highway going north around Rawang area. The road looks smooth but the car just feels upset. Even when I drive very slowly on some newly tarred road, can sometimes feel the car rocking left to right. I've already changed my front lower arm and anti rollbar link. Could it be problems with the springs? The springs haven't been changed. didn't change them when I put in the Bilsteins. How does one know if the spring sudah koyak? Thanks.

Springs are not supposed to koyak. They're springs - big heavy chunk of swirling metal. They're not supposed to prematurely die if there were no accidents on the car.

I can't pinpoint it just from your description alone. Gotta have it checked by the experts at BMW.

No they can't 'koyak' but they can break. It is a well documented problem on E39 and E46...

Check your suspension again bro Alias ... Could be the installation was not done properly.

Thanks all for feedback. This bouncing feeling was already there when I was on the original Boge. Thought the Boge was shot. But after changing to brand new Bilstein, it's still like that. BTW, only changed the absorber a few months back. Will ask the workshop to relook.

Too lazy to go to workshop today to get it checked. I probably should also get my tires' balancing check. Maybe see rims got problem or not. Hiya, pening lah. When I go on the same road with my Japanese car with GAB sports suspension, the ride is more controlled than the UDM.

If it's the spring issue, I'll probably changed to Eibach Prokit after going thru feedback from forumers here.

People always confuse between bounce and bump.

Suspension hard = bump.. use softer spring, or absorber or both.

spring re bounce can't be absorbed by absorber/damper = bounce, remedy: use stiffer absorber or softer spring.
