Have been looking around with alot of dealer for E46 318 CKD year 2001. Some after driving for 5 years and mileage only 40K-60K (that is very low and good buy if its real reading). Anyway, I just wanna know can the digital odometer be adjusted? Coz i know some dealer use to do that to analog odometer to sell them at higher value by paying a mere RM 100 for the mechanic to get it done.

Yes they can unfortunately, I remember the fee is around rm400-rm1000. But this is a piss poor job for the inexperienced as BMW diagnostic machine, if you can toy around with one, will read your actual milage from many other ECUs in your car.

do u think i can get the actualy mileage with the bimmer expert with their tools?

only those expert know how to change the mileage,

once everything has been erased & key in new reading....

basically u can't get the actual value of the mileage on your car...

that's not entirely true... your actual milage on the E46 is stored in many (more than 5) different ECU's and systems... you gotta dig deep with the GT1, i'll tell u this much...

Can be adjust my fren did this before selling his car. Most of the Japan spec is show less than 50k mileage may be it is true. I found out in my brothers cars the sticker on the door show service done at 35km+ in 2004 and the car in malaysia is now 47km. So may be some are actual, the car look very clean and new.

Apparently, the actual mileage logged in the ECU cannot be changed and accessible via GT1 diagnostic machine.

where can i get this GT1 diagnostic machine that u guys mention. coz if i buy the car from the dealer i will definately wanna check the mileage as they always say is very low mileage. even 5 years car only 60K, that means 1 month only drive 1K, which is hard to believe.

wahhhh, i just need to take the car from dealer to check with the GT1 to see the actual mileage. can they do that by paying them to do the diagnosis instead of buying the whole machine for 1 time use only?

bro,

no one is asking you to buy the damn diagnostic tool la.....

if you've found the car, ask the dealer whether the meter is adjusted,
if he says no, then say you want to send to your own mechanic to check
if there is any major things that you need to change. He would have to
agree if there's nothing fishy...

Go to Heritage, i think they will check everything for you with a nominal fee.

wah bro u expert lar, when i am near of getting my car u follow me and help me check lar, u help me to scare the dealer abit like u are a BM expert from german, can u give me heritage address pls and who to look for?

On E36 I wonder if the following action shows the real mileage :
press the trip meter button ( do not release ) then turrn the ignition key to position 1. You will see a series of numbers flashing out about 3 seconds apart. Look at then carefully coz one of them says xxxxxxxx km.
Anyone can decipher what all the rest is all about please let me know !
