Hi,I ve seen this bleeder screw made from brass in eBay that fits for E34/E36/E38/E39/E46/E53 which is excellent upgrade for the failure prone factory plastic.Anyone knows if there is any shops that sells this. Thanks

The plastic ones cost about RM11 from BA. No idea how much the brass one cost. The normal plastic bleeder actually provides a weak point in case of any leakages. If a brass one was put in, when there is any over-pressure, the radiator or expansion tank might break instead of the brass screw.

I have to clear this misconception ... from what i've read and understand the BMW engineers designed the expansion tank to be the weakest link and not the bleeder screw. I have my bleeder screw broken several times not because of the high heat or pressure but because of the excessive twisting force by the mech when screwing back the bleeder screw although the heat and pressure is a contributing factor of the weakening of the bleeder screw.

I have twice whereby the top of the bleeder screw sheared off which resulted in me having to buy a new expansion tank since the mech is unable to 'fish out' the remainder of the bleed screw out from the expansion tank.

In my opinion yes do get the brass bleeder screw since it is not a determining and crucial factor in our cooling system. It is just there to bleed the air out.

SBB ..been using that for more then a year already and so far did not face any problem at all ...

Now this is interesting. I always thought and was told that the screw is the weakest link. Thanks for sharing bro. :)

I seconded to B33mer comments, I ve twice broke the top part of the bleeder and luckey manager to fish out the remaining part......for now I always keep 1 bleeder screw in the car just incase. Having the brass I think is more practical .....so....which w/shop does sell it.?

Spend some time to read around and you will find bro ICEMAN 68 posting where did he get the brass made one.

huh? sure or not? i thought it was the radiator cap that is releasing the pressure?
