Hi all,My car bounce "right - left - right " while travelling on highway, making passengers in the car sea sick ................ I suspected is my absorder at the rear are faulty, sent for checking but mechanic said no problem, probably the absorbers are weak ...so not significant ......Actually sent my car to puspakam for checking before I bought my car, results show no problem on the absorbers.Anyone has this problem before ? Please help .........sea sick lar ......

Check your tire pressure and check your tires. How old are they? Done your alighment? balancing? If still cannot solve then look at the suspension bushings and also drive shaft.

Just change my long shaft coupling, alligment, balancing even to the xtend of high speed balancing.

Only thing going change is both of my rear tires are out of treads. Does that really affect the bouncing ?

Could be ur chassis flexing - don't worry too much about it.

Try tightening the chassis bolts/nuts etc. Have to do that annually with my Citroen.

5 series (e34) should not have this kind of bouncing .......... :getyourfactsright: is a 5 series ......suppose to be "Boss" car and "driver" driven that offer comfortable ride ........

Can tightening the chassis be done DIY ?

check your subframe mounts and bush.. one of the signs if these items are worn off is the rear steering itself. it happens especially when changing lanes. similar to yours?

it could b ur springs,ur tyre pressure running low, also mebbe ur ball joint,ur lower arm....many things lah.
better u go check at ur regular meachanic...

The rear Pitman arms are worn, Change them!. These are also called Dog Bones becuase they look like ...er... dog bones, about 4 inches long aluminum pieces with bushing on each end. Its is screwed into the sub-frame by large (maybe 20-22 mm bolts). You can see them just ahead of the rear tires under the car!. That causes rear bounce as you described.

Simple solutions : Change both my rear tyres ;)
When I come to think of it, my previous almost botak both rear Sime tyres have been changed "inside to outside" to avoid the excessive botak on the inner side.

However, the tyres is non-directional.

NOw, I have changed to Continental tyres with non-directional but this time with a word "Outside" on the tyres. Does these mean , we cannot change the tyre to "inside to outside" ?
